    Hi,
I bought a refurbished P105-9337 with Windows XP recently. I could not change the brightness of the screen. The software to do so was installed and the indicator on the screen showed the brightness level being adjusted but the screen never actually got any brighter. I just installed Windows 7 and all of the drivers for it and I still have the same problem. Any suggestions?

Sound more like a hardware problem, not software, if you receive it like that and it never work. than the LCD Inverter might be bad. that is the small little board at the bottom of the LCD screen. it powers the CCFL backlight lamp. if that is bad you can still see things on the screen but only if a the room is bright.
