I have set my Toshiba Satellite 1805 to be in standby when I close the cover. However, when I open the cover a few minutes later it does not recover. I have to shut down and start all over to do anything! Same problem on AC as battery. Any ideas? Thanks.

Yes. I have tried allmost every key on the keyboard. Some with two quick clicks. Nothing works. Some give a slight momentary indication that the hard drive might get going, but only for a second or two.

I have also tried leaving the windows desktop on without opening any programs and then closing the cover. Same result.

Iam new to the satellite so may have done something wrong?

Do you have XP or Vista?
Do you have the latest video drivers?

i have the same problem with vista. it happens intermittently. sometime it will wake up. sometimes it won't. at which point it requires me to hold the power key to power it off then back on.

i know that it probably has something to do with Vista. but i will live with it until i have the time and feel like figuring it out.

No Video On Resome From S3
I had this problem on two older models with each W2k and XP Tablet. I was emailed a fix from Microsoft to fix but it didnt work on the older P2 model with W2K.

DOWNLOAD the fix provided by Microsoft
    KB 917332 updates XP's fundamental Videoprt.sys to

v5.1.2600.2911 dated 18-May-2006. Sorry I never had a direct link but I'm sure it's available for all.

I have windows XP. I just downloaded KB 927332, which was supposed to fix this problem. It did make it possible for me to use the Windows sht down - standby option, and when I close the cover and then a few siconds later open and hit the power button it comes up as it should. But it will still not let me use the Toshiba power option to go to standby by just closing the cover. It seems to be doing something when I hit the power button, but the hard drive signal doesn't show anything and nothing opens.
    ANy thoughts? Thanks.

Did that make it posible to use the Toshiba standby by closing the cover? I just downloaded a later fix as described below without complete success.
    Thanks for any other suggestions.

Now I realize that the powerup after standby only works if I am using AC. So it seem like the smart card in the battery may be at fault. This is a new aftermarket battery. Any way to check or fix these? Thanks.
