Does anyone else have a problem with loud fans on there P15's...or am I just paranoid and need to ignore the noise? I just got the notebook a few days ago and it seems the fan goes off every 30-45 seconds when I am doing routine things (email, internet, etc.). Even when I put the fans on silent power save mode. Also, can I not turn off the black screen when I close the lid, I went to the power options and supposedly disabled the close lid feature, but it still goes into stand-by when I close the lid even half way.
If anyone has had similar situations please let me know, I'd appreciate it, thanks.

I should have my P15 s479 by the end of the week here, will let you know what I think about fan noise once it arrives, I tend to do alot of late night work and plan on using the laptop on the dinning room table after the kids are to bed etc, so in that quiet enviorment I should be able to tell ya if mine is really noisy or what...
Are there fans you can buy (quieter) that you could put in place of those fans (not sure how hard it is to get to them etc), but I know in my wifes pc she had generic fans and oneday I just swapped them all out with a few "quieter" fans from newegg and it made a huge difference, altho again I don't even have a laptop yet to look at much less take apart and or know if you can buy quieter fans for it.

Thanks, waiting to hear what you think!

I got the P15 S479 and yes I hear you on the quiet room fan kicks on and it's a bit loud, I certainly agree it is a loud little fan at times when it kicks in, I try to look at it as this is a powerful little machine and needs proper cooling so the fan noise is something I will just have to deal with, but yeah mine makes a good deal of noise too in a quiet room working at night no radio or tv on...

To r45Mac,
Yes, since the day I bought my Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 model, I have had the same noisy, unwanted fan noise cutting in--often every 30 seconds. You can imagine how embarrassing this is when i take my notebook into a scholarly research library--heads rise.
I've just tried to live with the problem, since even trying to raise the bottom off the table a little still doesn't help.
Have you found any solutions?
