I dont want to sound dumb but how do I over-clock a 9700 gts? Do I need to disassemble the laptop or do I do it with software? Im a newb at these things sorry but I need to know so I can do it with my x305 once I get it. I would atleast like to play Crysis on high settings.

You will be lucky to play Crysis on all high at full resolution, even overclocked.

Really? A 9600 can run Crysis with some high settings and most at very high getting a FPS of about 14-19 FPS non OC. Maybe im wrong but ive seen it on youtube.

And when ur reading my thread, try 700/1000/1800 overclocks. dont try to go really any higher, it is unstable. at these clocks, it is 99.8% stable. the shader was originally 1325, so a 475 increase is sick.

Dude how long can you leave the clocks like that without getting into trouble? I game for like 8 hour sessions before I actually get of the comp. Maybe 4 hours a title then surf for 30 min then load another title for the next 4 hours, then I put the comp to sleep to get back into real life. I wouldn't want to always have to reenter the clocks each time I load up a game. What's your experience with your gaming sessions and how long?

well, as in my thread i stated that you can save profiles and load them up by pressing key commands such as CTRL ALT H and the profiles will pop up and u can load them. also u can just go to performance in nvidia system tools 6.03. plus, i suggest only loading the clocks when u are playing a game. so say ur gonna be on for 2 hours but not play a game, dont load the clocks. and dont load them at startup. so far ive played with those clocks for 2 hours straight and it has been completely stable and the gpu temps never went above 157 with hw monitor. i suggest 650/950/1750 for the safest clocks for 8 hours man. dont push it too far.

I use ATITools to overclock my dual 8600mGT's. It has built in stability testing and automatically ramps up speeds to find the maximum safe settings.

make sure you clean regularly (vacuum and compressed air). My machine will hit gpu temps of 105C in only a few months if I don't (with stock clocks)
