I'm a complete tablet PC novice and this afternoon took delivery of a cheap refurbished Toshiba M700 C2D 18.ghz 1 gig ram. Apart from a couple of scratches to the outside lid it's perfect (apart from the crapware!).

When I looked at the device manager listing i was surprised to see two different processors: T5670 1.8ghz and T7500 2.20ghz.

Is this odd? I would have presumed they should both be T5670's.

If this is unusual then why would someone put one T7500 in?

Does this mean I'm actually running on one core only, the 1.8ghz?

as I said I have no idea if this is a stupid question or not so any help appreciated.

I've never heard of this before. If it doesn't seem to run with any issue I wouldn't stress about it too much.. Maybe uninstall the T7500 in device manager and restart. Might register properly, but... this is just my 'guess' fix.

Update the BIOS to the latest version.

Maybe do a clean install after that.

Something is wrong. Maybe you should take it apart and see which CPU it actually has.

Check the BIOS... whatever is listed there is right.
