Hello, I am new to this site and I apologize if i am doing this wrong...lol..
You have answered my question I have been asking all the Toshiba Tech support and that was if I could go from Vista Premium to Xp professional. I am using my laptop for school and lot of the cd's i get for my classes or labwork will not work with vista. They (Tech Support) have advised me not to go from Vista home premium to Xp professional because of the drivers. I see you have a link here for some 60 plus driversfor xp home, my question is will this link work to install XP Professional to my laptop or do you have another link? Thank you and any help will be greatly appreciated..

I think any drivers for Xp home will work on Xp professional, The professional version just has more features.

Tried the new Conextant Sound Driver v4.83.1.0 , but it causes my notebook to freeze for a split second randomly every few minutes in audio/video mouse freezes, I have removed it and install the stock sound driver and all is fine, I have tried v4.83.1.0 a few times over the last few weeks and it always causes split second freezes.
It`s crazy. -
Hi, just went back to vista x64 thought I'd give it another chance. Any good tweaks available to trim down some of the system fat? Already been in msconfig to trim some of the start up fat.
Thanks

Strange the day after i report a problem with the new sound driver , causing momentary freezing a new one is released , same version number though.
I have installed it and all seems fine at the moment, do Toshiba monitor NBR. -
Regarding USB sleep and charge, I found that no matter which mode I used, and which USB port I plugged into, my iPod was not able to be charged while the computer was sleeping.
I just bought an external hdd, so I might put off attempting to install a 2nd internal hdd into my p305. Someday, though, I will do it. It may be a good opportunity to take pictures and make a tutorial, as I'm sure there must be other people with these laptops out there who are curious about that extra bay. -
hey I found a toshiba Satellite P305-S8919 NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T9550(2.66GHz) 17.0" Wide XGA+ 4GB Memory DDR2 800 400GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 4 a lil less than 1150$...reckoned it was a sweet deal....but it wasnt given in toshibadirect.........so is it safe to buy?

Well back to Win xp home again still can't beat the 10 gig mark versus vista's 47 gigs of hard drive space!
-
Tried installing a second hard drive and I found out the drive bay isn't deep enough also the $5.00 caddy doesn't line up with the side mounting holes on the hard drive, so I guess I'll just have to order a 500 gig hd and use my preinstalled 250 gig for an external drive! Oh yea my wireless card kept dropping the net while on xp so I'm back on vista x64 again and wireless works great.

I thought you had the hdd installed and working, did they send you a different caddy than the one in the picture, because it look right.
-
The two holes that mount the caddy into the drive bay line up, the side ones to mount the hd to the caddy don't line up. The secondary drive bay itself is too shallow, the hd sits slightly above the hd bay so the cover can not be mounted back on flush and with the hd connected with the caddy over it ,the caddy mounting holes are raised and don't fit flush with the caddy mounting holes, looks like about a 16th of an inch gap. slightly raised.
-
I just talked to Toshiba support , they said I had to call their accessory people to get the right caddy and hd cover so I did they told me I void my warranty unless toshiba installs my new hd, then told me I have to contact their spare parts warehouse (call) which I did and they said the parts were discontinued. LMAO needless to say I'm pretty mad right now! So that's where I stand.
-
Further research I found a hd cover at spareparts warehouse $5.00, 13.95 shipping will have it Thursday. I did get the wrong caddy though so I still have to locate the right one.
-
Well been looking since yesterday and still no luck so if anyone knows where I can find a secondary hd caddy for my P305D-S8995E (PSPDOU-OODOOF) Please let me know.
Thank you very much! -
Update: I received the new hd cover today and guess what its the one that has the 5 prongs on it just like the other one, well guess no second hd for me!

I have had a problem with the Toshiba Value added Software giving me an error "getprofstring failed" when trying to install it.
I have had my P300 for around 3 months, and did a clean install Vista32 and could not install the latest Value added Software for the error above, I had to install the old version that came with my P300.
Today i decided to install Vista64 and everything installed fine, until i got to the Value added Software, and i got the same stupid error.
I did a search and found out that there is a file missing from the software , it`s an file called FeatureSelect.ini , all you have to do is copy the file from your old version into your new version and it will install fine.
It just show that Toshiba is releasing faulty software for Vista32/64 ????? -
Anyone know where to get windows 7 drivers for a P305D-S8995E??
thanks!
