I did a search and could not find any info on the above model. I am in B.C. Canad and have the opportunity of the blow out sales to purchase this model for $1100, however I can't find out much about it.
I read the review on the A70-S249, however do not believe it to be the same model.
This one has 3.2 ghz, 512 RAM, firewire port, trubrite screen,100 gigs,ATR Radeon 9000 video,DVD+, DVD- burners, and 3 usb ports, 15.4 inch monitor , 7.8 lbs and of course Pent 4.
I have read a bulletin on the Toshiba Support sites about A70's that was dated 02/21/05 that indicated that if there is an issue by the user of a problem after touching the unit to go to a Toshiba depot with the notebook and there was a general description of periodically reboots, shutdown, freezes. Toshiba bulletin # TSB001087.
But no particular model. So is this applicable to all A70's???
Also I read in my browsing about a static problem in the winter with some units when they were touched and a lot of complaints about software on the A70's in reviews that I have read.
So I decided to post here to see if there are users out there and get experienced comments.
I am not really in need of the battery option, however I will be occasionally travelling with the unit and so the weight is a concern.
My present unit my satellite 2410 extended warranty expires May 24/05; however I have spoken to the warranty depot and they said that I should ask Toshiba a month before to see if I can get another year of parts and labour and they would cover me if it is approved.
The unit has had no problems, however it is Pent 4, mobile processor, 1.9 ghz, 512 RAM and 13 inches by 12 ins deep and certainly not even 7 lbs.
I am just looking at the price of this A70, however I don't want to buy a lemon.
Perhaps i should wait another year and see what comes out. I am not in need of a Centrino battery saver model though.
I really want a work horse model like the model I have.
I do a lot of backups of dvd's, and convert vhs to dvd, and do a lot of scanning and use Adobe Photoshop cs.
I hope to hear some comments, thankyou.

You should fill out the FAQ in the hardware forum and post there. Personnally I would stay away from a Pentium 4 based laptop as they are heavy and run hot. Performance on the Pentium M is quite good. You cannot judge a CPU by the clock speed anymore. The Pentium M is a much more efficient CPU. It has more memory on the CPU which greatly increases performance relative to the clock speed. Also Toshiba is not my favorite brand. Good Luck.
