Thanks to everyone on NR. I've been reading NR for a couple weeks to try to figure out the best notebook for me.

I had narrowed it down to A 12" Powerbook(was going in today) and the Toshiba M100. Thin n light and a dedicated video card. I'm on the road weekly and want to do some photo and video editing, with entertainment on the road.

With the 25% off this weekend, I went with the M100. For $1360: Duo 1.83, 1GIG, TruBrite, ATI x1400 128mg, 80g hd, supermulti DVD, HK speakers, etc.

Not as small as the PB, but should have a better screen. I hope I made the right decision. My wife really likes the features of Apple's .Mac web service.

Is there a PC service similar to the .Mac service?

    very wise decision. :)
I hope you also got the 2nd year extended service plan. Because it was free after mail-in-rebate.

Would you please be so kind to make a quick review of the unit when you have chance? I am also planning to buy this one whenever toshiba decides to make another %25 rebate.

Yes, I did get the extended warranty with the Systemguard. It was only $129 after a $150 rebate and I travel a lot, so accidents are a good possibility.

I like the size of the PB, but with Toshiba's sale, it was hard to pass up a more powerful sys for less $. Plus, my home machine is PC. However, I did like the iMovie demo in the store. It looked like editing easy enough for kids.

If the new 12" MacPro or iBook were out, I may have gone that direction.
I am a little hesitant buying a model with no review or experience.

I'll give my impressions, but I am not too savy with PCs. It is my 1st lappy.

Yeah, I'd love to hear some numbers on 3DMark05/06, and PCMark04. Can't wait to hear it.

well, in terms performance I wouldnt expect too much of a difference than the other core duo based laptops. I am mostly interested about your feelings towards the laptop. I mean do you like (of course after it arrives :) ) .Is it comfortable to carry and work with? I know these terms may change quite much from one person to another, but still would be good to hear about it. BTW, dont forget to take some pictures for us :)

Yes, when you get this notebook. Don't be shy to give all the details, maybe even do a review. I'm looking at this one with passive interest. (The price is tempting). Which size battery did you get? I'll be interesting in that to.

Where can I see the actual colors of the casing?

How would the M100 fare with an x1400 grfx card? I'm not a gamer but, if i did get a notebook with the x1400 i'd consider putting a couple games on it. What does the x1400 compare to? Something like the x600 or ...

Ahhhh, ok.. Seems like the x1400 is a good balance of having a decent grfx card incase you want to make use of it. I'm liking the M100 more and more.. Thank you, Metamorphical ;)

I ordered the M100, too. I've got good experience with computers; I'm no expert, but I know what I'm talking about. I've had a Dell Inspiron 8200 for three years, as well, so I know what I should be comparing. I'll gladly review it when it gets here, if anyone's interested.

(I ran SuperPi on my Dell, by the way, just as a comparison point. 4.00 minutes. Awesome, huh?)
