I just got an old Toshiba Satellite 2715XDVD from my dad which he used to work with since 1998 (long-long time ago). It still has sticker written "...Intel Pentium III processor,500 MHz..." on it but what i see on My Computer's properties is "252 MHz Pentium III".
My question is how can I fix this problem and can I make this "donkey" a little bit faster since I was really irritated with jumpy frame when I'm watching DVD? And how can I get into BIOS menu on this antique notebook?
I suppose I should mention that I couldnt afford to buy myself a new one since I'm just a regular highschool student w/ limited bugdet![]()
Thanks

It's possible it might have SpeedStep type technology enabled, so you might not see the full power unless the system needs it.
You can try going into the Power Management settings and change it to Always On. This will push the CPU to run at full speed.
You can also try checking the BIOS to see if there's a Power Management setting for the system. If there is SpeedStep type technology, turning it off may for the CPU to run at 50% performance all the time. Try enabling it and see if it helps.
There's a couple of utilities you can run to verify the CPU type & speed of your CPU. One is called CPUZ which will tell you the full specs of your CPU.

The other is Intel's CPU Frequency ID utility. This will tell you exactly without a doubt what CPU you have in your system. What the max speed the CPU is capable of and what it's currently running at.
