all i can say is WOW . i never OC'd before so i did a lot of research and testing, but now i know why getting an 8700mGT was worth it.

    i went from 4800 3dmarks stock drivers/stock clocks
    to
    6400 3dmarks 169.04 driver/775.1800.1000 OC

i know 3dmarks doesn't give a good view of what performance boost u get so i decided to load up COD4. i can max out ALL settings (including AA and resolution) and have not a stutter of lag. it looks gorgeous. i just wish i did this earlier :) it appears as though laptop gpu's are like underclocked versions of the desktop versions.

if anyone wants info on how i OC'd / what i used / what settings / etc, feel free to drop me a private message because i frequently just check my messages on here.

if u have an 8700mGT, i suggest OCing it to get its full potential

Hi Kraz - 6400 is sweet! I have just installed 169.04 and the INF and find that Rivatuner doesnt seem to maintain my OC settings - eg it pops the speeds up to say 729/1458/900 but only keeps them there for 30secs before dropping them to the floor...does yours do this? Cheers

odd. usually that is due to the driver itself, but i know for a fact that 169.04 works

I had the same problem with my sli1 Laptop and rivatuner, I used Ntune to overclock mine and it went from 7841 at stock speed to 9251 at 650/900 using Ntune. I would rather use rivatuner over Ntune which I never liked using, but it looks like it's not compatible with the newer drivers and does not overclock the cards at all and for now Ntune is the only way I can overclock.

LOL - I use AtiTool... Always had better luck with it than any 'nvidia' specific tools. Plus I like the interface better.

I had 1000 on ram for a bit, but it tended to artifact slightly. Core is rock solid for me until around 800. In all honesty, I just run her around stock unless I am firing up Crysis or Bioshock... then I punch up the juice on the puppy. Finally glad I have a driver that supports the automatic scaling (eg run at 169 core clock most of the time). Talk about extending a GPU life.
