 I am truly disappointed with my purchase but I am not here to frown on Toshiba. I finalized my purchase of the Toshiba P105 S9312 at 9:00 p.m. (only 7 short hours ago) and I've already boxed the system back up. I hope CompUsa will exchange it and more so, I hope they have another system in stock. I was in love as soon as I booted it up, completed all the registration stuff and finally made it to my desktop. I searched around for a least 20 minutes and then my screen flickered 3 times, black - desktop, once, twice, then completely black! Nothing I did would bring the desktop back. I had to reboot. The machine booted & I again searched around for 20-30 minutes, then it happened again, this time, only one flicker then off it went! But this time when I tried to reboot (after letting it rest for 10 minutes), the graphics on the screen were about half missing, and there was lines running through out the screen. The machine blue screened & shut down. I think I have the LEMON. I am going to attempt to return it to CompUsa today, as soon as they open, I plan on being in their parking lot. So far, I've not read of this problem anywhere else. Has anyone else heard of this or had this happen?? Wish me luck. By the way, I do plan on getting the exact same model, as I think this machine will be kick-butt, especially if I can get one that works!

I had the exact same issue, but it was with an HP dv8000t about 2 months ago. I took it out of the box booted it up and then there was a continuous flickering and the screen would go black. It would be fine for about 1 minute after restart and then the screen would flicker and go black again. I spent about an hour on the phone with HP tech support and after trying everything short of reinstalling the OS they said they had no idea what the problem was, gave me a case number and told me to take it back to the store I bought it from, it was a CTO from Costco.

I am convinced it was either an issue with the video card or some connections came loose during shipping. I couldn’t fix the problem through driver reinstallation and wasn’t interested in cracking open my 5 hour old notebook so I just took it back.

Good luck with the return, I hope everything works out good for you.

Cool, glad to hear you didn't have any problems replacing it. Usually most stores won't give you a hassle if there is something clearly wrong with the notebook, like what you described.

Glad to see it worked out for you. Perhaps you should start a new thread, "P105-S9312 and Happiness!!!" :)
