    Hi,

Today I tried to connect the cell phone to the laptop using the infrared port. And through Toshiba's support I found out the infrared is only meant for the remote controller included with the laptop. This is an odd thing.

Is there anything Toshiba is not telling me?

Does your cell phone support ir? Most cell phones support Bluetooth which is a different technology. iirc the P105-S291 didn't come with a bluetooth adapter. You can pickup a usb bluetooth adapter so you can connect to your cell phone at places like www.newegg.com

I'm using a USB cable right now, but yes the phone supports it.

I understand bluetooth is on its way out?

i heard they are certain brands of cell phones that doesnt support comunicating through ir even if the cell phone has the ir.The sony ericsson have no trouble at all connecting through the ir, and i think the ones that cant comunicate are certain motorola or nokia versions and just only between them i think, just make sure you have enabled the ir on the cell phone and on the laptop, and on the laptop make sure, if it has a little switch that activates the ir its on ,if ypu are sure its on the ir then check new drivers for the ir.
