I'm strongly considering getting the P105-S9722 and about the only thing I can find not to like about it is the poky-but-huge 4200rpm 200gb hard drive. If I get it, I will want to replace the hard drive with something faster, likely with a 7200rpm 100gb hard drive. I could then use the original, 4200 rpm hard drive in an external USB enclosure as a back-up drive.

I'm guessing that performing the swap won't be that difficult, as I done this before on other laptops. If this is NOT the case, please let me know.

What I'm wondering is, how can I make sure that I get a laptop hard drive that is compatable with this system? Is there some sort of compatability guide somewhere?

I was looking at this one, the
Seagate Momentus 7200.1 ST910021AS 100GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive - OEM. It looks like it should do the trick, being SATA and all (which is what the one that comes in the lappy is). And it costs about half of what the one's in the Toshiba store cost.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Also, if anyone out there actually has one of these systems, how do you like it?

You can get any SATA hard drive, including the one Seagate Momentus you mentioned. There are a a couple of P105 reviews on this site, FYI.

Thanks for the info, jetstar. I thought that was the case, but I just wanted to make sure.

Man, you sure planted the noob flag on me! I thought I had looked and found none, but I just checked and you're right, there are some. I had even read that one before. I guess that is what I get for looking at waaaaaay too many reviews.

    Thanks again!
