Thanks for this post. Although not a laptop, those instructions are valid for my HP Compaq Presario SR5010NX
The Presario comes equiped with Vista, but the machine is not powerful enough to run it. Therefore, the experience is too slow.
Using the files you posted, I was able to install XP and install the right drivers for the Ethernet controller, the audio chips and the video card. -
Sweet gald it helped someone...its tough for an xp lover today...
specially on new hardware...thank god there is the open source community. -
Hello!
I have also a problem with Toshiba A200 Series - I bought it with Vista and reinstalled to XP. Most of the drivers I found on the internet, but there's problem (for me very important) with the use function keys - especially to adjust LCD brightness (fn+F6, fn+F7) - they simply doesn't work under XP.
Have anyone that kind of problem? Mayby it's only the matter of a dedicated program which controls it but unfortunately I've got no idea what program it is.
I would be grateful for any help. -
Thanks prightup2 for the resarch and the solution. You saved the day, big time!
I have a brand new p205-s6267 with a XP Pro SP2 installed. I managed to get all the proper drivers, but the display driver gave me a hard time. I was very-very-very close to return this piece of crap (sorry. it's a company laptop)
But....thanks to u, i have a working display driver for this Toshiba P205-S6267.
May Toshiba burn in hell. Thank you -
Many thanks for this!!! With this info, I was able to install XP with all the drivers on a Vaio VGN-N350FE. Most of the drivers you attached worked (chipset, video, sound, mass storage) I only had to find Wireless/PCI ethernet/Modem drivers myself.
THANK YOU!! -
Thanks for the drivers!!!
How did you get the wireless adapter working on the toshiba p205-s6267 with windows xp?
Thanks! -
mikedelos:
I had the same problem, the WiFi controller would not work. I found the following file at Intel: V11.1.1.0_XP_DRIVERS. It was found by searching for the Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN in their download area. -

The best driver for most wifi cards, including the one you're asking about, is Atheros base driver. Compaq, Toshiba, Dell, etc... don't make wifi chipsets, they mostly use Atheros' chipset. In this specific application you need to look for the file version: Atheros_5.0.0.107 in google.
ALSO! Intel's latest 945 chipset drive (version 1429) does not work as well as the older version 1425 and may cause your screen on your laptop to blank. This is due to a problem with how it handles secondary monitors for dual display. Go with the archived driver and you will be safe.
Good luck to all. This Vista "revolution" is a serious PITA!

Thanks for the info. I will test out this afternoon. I really appreciate it!
-
Got it! The wireless works now. Thanks again!
-
Mikedelos:
Try this driver from Intel V11.1.1.0_XP_DRIVERS for the WiFi Controller 4965 which is the one in the system -
That's the one I downloaded from Intel's website. It works great! Thanks again!
-
Hi!
Thanks for this great info.
I will try your display drivers, because i installed Intel drivers download from Intel site, and my notebook (P205-S6267) will not show screen.
I will try and post results.
Thanks
Regards! -
Works fine now
Thanks!!! -
Thanks to all that have replied to this thread. Just bought my nephew a P205-S6237 and of course didn't know I'd have this many problems putting XP on. Because of this thread, I've found most of the drivers (most importantly the LAN and graphics controller).
Oh and darrelltwo, just happened to catch your post about the 1429 drivers not working, and to use the 1425 drivers. I kept getting a blank screen when I rebooted. Thanks to you, now I can see!
Thanks everyone, great job. -
Thanks so much for posting this info. Good job, god bless you. haha.

HAS ANYONE COME UP WITH A SOLUTION FOR THE TOUCHPAD
ON THE SATELLITE P205 SERIES RUNNING ON WIN XP PRO SP2 YET????
PLEASE!!
CHEERS!! -
I'll be trying to convert to XP tomorrow
The touchpad is Synaptics - probably the universal XP one from the synaptics site might work
Has anyone tried using an XP install disk with the BTS Driverpacks?
I'll let you know how that works
Mule -
I used an XP Pro SP2 Corp slipstreamed with all patches thru June 2007
I used Nlite 1.4 to make a bootable disk using the source files from the above disk and the following BTS driverpacks on the Disk:
WLAN 706
Sound A & B 707
Modem 702
LAN 7062
Graphics B 705
Chipset 706
Added the drivers and made an iso - burned it to DVD install disk and installed on my P205 and everything installed EXCEPT:
Modem (used B25766B.exe from recovery disk 1)
Flash Media (Mass storage - used QE15flashdriver - u have to uncompress and update driver from device manager to this uncompressed folder to install)
Additionally I installed the Synaptics Touchpad driver using B25765C.exe from the recovery disk 1
Everything works great -- This is my 4th Vista dump and XP install to a computer -- the BTS driverpacks rock
Its nice having no yellow cautions and completely updated for patches as of June 2007 - all in one install.
Mule -
Thanks for the info it has helped out greatly.
Has anyone else had an issue with the "network controller" drivers?
I've tried everything I can think of but I'm still unable to get the driver to install. -
The Ethernet card from Device Manager is:
Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
you could try the Realtek site

Can anyone give a newbie laptop owner (first one) some pointers on making the Hotkey functions work under XP SP2? I just bought my first laptop---Satellite P205-S6297---and am less-than-impressed with the lumbering monster they call Vista.
I've got most all the XP drivers installed, and XP is running flawlessly, but not having those function keys is like buying new car with one power window not working; it doesn't prevent the car from getting me where I want to go, but it's there, so I want it!
I'm especially interested in getting the F6/F7 Display Adjustment keys working correctly, but I have absolutely no clue where to look for such a driver. Can someone help? -
My hotkeys work - the chipset drivers set them up
Mule -
Thanks for the tip; I went ahead and installed the chipset drivers from Intel's site. They didn't fix the Hotkeys, but they DID remove the last two yellow exclamations from Device Manager, so I know something worked correctly!
Still can't figure out how to get these Hotkeys to function correctly; the Mute FN key works, as does the "Lock Computer", but the rest of 'em I just can't get to work.
Thanks again for the tip, though. -
Hi everybody,
How can I get quickly the WinXP driver file for P205-S6267 satellite from the list above? Could anyone help me? My mail: [email protected], my Yahoo Messenger ID: dnlvtn3
Thank you so much. -
Hi everyone,
I have tried to download some drivers from the internet except for
1) intel_8.3.1013_all.exe ()
2) win2k_xp142550.exe (Video Graphics)
3) iata70_enu.exe (intel matrix storage manager)
They are still there on the server of Intel but can not access now.
Please send them to me if it is available from you.
Thank you for help.

Hi, everybody
I have found that although display OK but I can not use the secondary RGB display for example to a projector for representation.
Only a static screen background apear on the second one but no thing including icons ...
Please help me. Thanks -
Ok, It working now. I have to set multiple display in the display property.
-
To get the Synaptic Touchpad to work, download sp105tpdriverx.exe from Toshiba. I downloaded the one for the p105, but I doubt there's any real difference model to model.
-
I have been able to get most of the XP drivers for P205-S6267 .
There is a yellow question mark against the other devices/ network controller.
How do I get the drivers for these ?
I am assuming this is for the wireless card .
I have tried the following drivers for the WI-FI
Atheros_v5_1_1_9
Atheros_5.0.0.107
None of the above worked.
Please let me know the solution -
Hey defjam90, I have been going through the same struggle as the rest of you guys, trying to find working drivers to revert the P205 S6267 to a decent OS(XP). So far, by reading in this forum and taking the advice of others on drivers, I have been able to get rid of all the faults in Device Mangler.
I found that when I installed the Intel chipset drivers (intel 8.3.1013 all.exe), that the installation package included drivers for the Intel wireless as well.
The only problem I have now is that the sidebar for the webcam crashes as soon as I click on anything. Anyone having this same problem, or have a suggestion as to how to fix it? Thanks in advance. -
prightup2, looks like you are the one who started all this XP madness and did a great job of gathering the resources. (I was almost ready to shoot myself when my screen kept going blank after installing the wrong version!) Hopefully you can help me out. I have tried installing the ethernet drivers multiple times with no success. It keeps telling me that the driver was corrupted or something like that. Did anyone else have that problem while migrating back to XP? Any advice would be appreciated.

You guys need to make your life easier
go to this site:
http://www.driverpacks.net/DriverPacks/
1. download all the driver packs to a folder called packs
2. extract all the packs (7zip) to another folder called drivers
3: copy your xp source disk to another folder called xp source
4. Download nlite 1.4 and install
5. follow directions for loading drivers and making bootable iso
6. nlite will use all the drivers downloaded and your xp source to make a bootable xp install disk already loaded with all the drivers you need - yes it will be a DVD install disk but it will work.
I had all the drivers except the modem and flash driver (see my previous post)
The modem and synaptics drivers are on the delivered install disks.
If you really want to be on top of this you can slipstream your XP install disk to be patch current when you install too..
see http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/updatepack.html
I would copy my xp sp2 install disk to my hard drive and update it with RyanVM
Then I would use nlite to make a new iso with all the drivers
I don't use MS update for patches - they screw up computers and use resources - I use autopatcher:
http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=564234
That was a quick 10 years experience in one post.....
Don't forget read about this stuff - so you can teach others.......

hi folks.. i still cannot get the touchpad on my p205 s6237
so if anyone's interested in giving a hand...:
i did install the driver (synaptics touchpad driver B25765C.EXE) from the toshiba P205-S6237 recovery disc, it appears identified as: Synaptics touchpad v6.3 on the mouse properties window and as Synaptics PS/2
Port touchpad on the Device Manager window but the touchpad itself just DOES NOT FUNCTION. it did work with Vista though. I also installed toupad-xp-1782-en, which is an touchpad on-off utility but that didnt help either.
can I ask you::
1_ how is your touchpad identified on both device manager and touchpad properties windows on your satellite p205 please?
2_ which driver did you install?
any help greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!
nice one!!
..ziGG -
I would recommend uninstalling the synaptics driver completely and using the one from the recovery disk -- I'm running XP and it works great
