    Shubes,

I just recently purchased a p205-s6237 laptop and thanks to all the input on this thread, I was able to successfully install XP without a hitch.

I was wondering if you were able to figure out the whole F6 and F7 brightness control thing? I would really like to have that functionality back.

On another note, does anyone know how to change the resolution of the touchpad after loading XP?

ok folks i found out what the problem was for the touchpad not working on my p205 running on XP:: i tweaked the BIOS setup back to DEFAULT just by pressing the F9 key and saving the changes made and after that i done a reinstall of the driver provided in the disk 1 of the toshiba recovery cd, plus i installed the on/off touchpad utility you can download from the toshiba website and voila, everything works now.
i can only assume that the IRQs were probably moved during my first XP install (?) cause i never touched the machine's setup before and the touchpad worked fine under vista
i decided to post this in case anybody has encontered the same annoying problem.

    good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!

    i guess that's all from me for now.. .. .. ;)
    nice one -ziGG

Unfortunately, no. I never could get the function keys to work correctly. I found a small, inexpensive program called Magic Hotkey that works wonderfully, if not better. I can control not only the brightness with my function keys, but the contrast AND the gamma settings as well.

Yeah, it's annoying to have to install an external app to make the function keys work, but I sure like having XP.

BUMP! just got a s6267. I installed linux and could most things to work except for the modem (its software) and the touchpad. Due to a new position available in my company, I will need to have windows installed. I do not own a copy of vista, and the recovery CD is a joke. Keeps telling me that this machine is not a Toshiba product.

    Any update on the drivers?

XP drivers for the P205 from Toshiba Spain in english .ver:
    http://es.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=ES

    1. Select Usa & English =(pais & idioma)
    2. Portatiles (laptops)
    3. Satellite Pro // trust me :)
    4. Satellite Pro P Series
    5. Satellite Pro P200
    6. Windows XP
    7. Todos =(all files)
    8. now click on Buscar (search)

now you see all the files, for the display drivers you better go to intel website http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng

About F6/F7 Display Adjustment keys, only works for
vista not for Xp yet, But works when the PC is booting to xp also in the bios, so press and hold FN+F6 or FN key & F7 to control the BRIGHTNESS in the bios or when booting, the setting stay when you run XP.

    Ok, I have a P205-S6267 Satellite, I installed XP.
I have All Drivers I found here.
They ALL Worked, EXCEPT Video Controller.
I tried like 10 different Intel Chipsets, my Classmate said it was 'NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300'.
So I tried like 10 of those Drivers that were 'supposed' to work for that.
    But I still have:
    Video Controller
    Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
neither of the 2 are working.
so, if this is what I have, Please tell me where I can Download the Driver.
I've spent Days on this one Driver allready.

    thanx - Da-Man

I came across the Satellite A100 notebook, that has also the Agere HDA modem inside. I found aproperiate driver on toshiba support site, but with a little workaround:
Try to choose only the notebook model number and OS in the form at support website of toshiba. Do NOT fill any info about country, language or type of downloads. This lists all downloads in all languages for given notebook model. Then You should be able to find the modem driver as did I (eg. modem driver is available in UK english, but not US english).

    Good luck
