I'm having some trouble hooking up an external monitor (acer x193w) through the VGA connector. My p300 has an ati 3650, and I generally use ATI Catalyst to control settings. When I hook up an external monitor with the same native resolution as my laptop (1440x900), and I clone the laptop to the monitor, it forces the aspect ratio on the external monitor to 4:3 (should be 16:10). But, if I reduce the resolution to 1360x768, it displays that in 16:10. I am stumped.

Well I just solved my problem - I went to "Restore Factory Defaults" in Catalyst and it seems to work just fine!
