    Hello there,

Last week I purchased a Satellite P300-20H and I would like to know if the onboard graphics will be enough so as I can hook it up via HDMI and watch blu-ray's on my TV? Regardless of the answer's on this, and before I go opening it up, would it be possible to add an after market GPU?

Also, would the T7400 SL9SE be compatible with this notebook?

Many Thanks for any replies :)

Try DIY ViDock to add a GPU via expresscard slot. Eg: US$190 HD5670, US$240 HD5770. Probably could do a s/h HD4670 for ~US$130.

I believe you have the GM965 express chipset right?
if so, you cant use the T7400. You need a socket P CPU with an 800mhz fsb.

    e.g. t7300, t7500, t7700, X7800...
    also newer CPUs, T8100, T8300, T9300, T9500.

You probably cant install a dedicated GPU. Your best option is the DIY vidock.

    Thanks for the reply's fella's

The chipset is "mobile Intel GL40 Express" according to the specs and has a 667 fsb cpu, the T3400 to be exact...

Could you tell me how come other "T****" cpu's will fit but the 7400 won't? I specifically looked for one with the same specs as the 3400, I'm just after one with more than 1mb of L2 cache, and I specifically stayed clear of "P****" cpu's thinking they wouldn't be compatible.

Is the GL40 chipset powerful enough to play blu-ray's or would it be best to upgrade to an aftermarket solution? Also, if the chipset isn't up to it, wouldn't it be best to just move this on and buy one with a dedicated card pre-installed?

Edit: The on-board gfx are "Intel GMA 4500M Dynamic Video Memory Technology 5.0"

    Thanks again, :)

Ok, I see, you can should be able to use most socket P CPUs.

    The T7400 is socket M.
