So my P35-S605 is on a "stand". I put i on a slant, you know, put something in the back, of each side, and have it on an angle? Well, i've been having problems of it turning off for no reason- this only happens when the laptop is on a flat surface. My laptop crashes on me whenever it is on a flat surface and i have no idea why. It needs to be on a "stand" for it not to crash....WTF???

Well, your laptop may be suffering from overheats (the P30s and P35s are notorious for having heat related problems due to their P4 CPUs). I suggest keeping your notebook proped up for better ventilation while doing CPU intesive tasks, such as gaming, video encoding, etc. Also, you may want to consider investing in a notebook cooler. Will this one fit for my 17" laptop?

I don't see why not, however I would contact the reseller or Vantec themselves to see if it'll work.

So, get this: I've been calling toshiba daily now trying to figure out what the issue is. I swear I know more than these people, I've done everything they've told me to before, last night i formatted my computer, hoping this issue would be resolved. Still debating whether to get this Vantec coolpad, but in the meantime, they're sending me a new motherboard.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@$!@%!%@!#$@#$@#4.......*cough...* and i bought this in august....*cough*....where is my gun....??....*cough*....anyways...i swear there is a lose wire in this laptop somewhere and its not a motherboard issue....or my laptop has inherited feelings and wants to be on a stand for the rest of its life instead of on the flat table where it gets no air.....

it is an overheating issue that will most likely keep happening because there is, like you said, no air under the laptop when it sits flat. at the risk of repeating myself from the other thread, ill just quote it haha:
