Blu-ray and PATA interface won't give you much choice.
Notebook burners have been migrating the the SATA interface over the past couple of years.

Doh! Thanks John re: PATA vs SATA. Your information got me headed in the right direction in my search for an upgrade! I'm now looking at the Panasonic UJ-240. I could care less about the OEM's units Labelflash, what I'm after is that Blu-ray 50gb storage capacity... And of course ~ I feel the "Need for speed".

I'm a little confused about whether you need PATA or SATA. You had mentioned PATA in your first post but the P500 looks to be a new model and most likely uses SATA.
What is the model of your current optical drive (device manager will list it)? Then Google for the specifications.

Re: the P500 it's hopefully being built as we speak. I agree, being new and all one would expect it to be a SATA. Once that bad boy arrives (yes, the wait is killin' me) I'm going to dive into the upgrades.
