    hey all!
im new here, this is my first post. i just bought a p500 in september, and my backlit keyboard stopped working. i sent it to the toshiba repair depot and they said their diognosis was it was unplugged (the keyboard light ribbon) and they said they reseated and secured it and that was it. they are now sending it back to me... this is troubling to me, it stoped working while sitting on my desk, there is no way it just fell out. i would say that there is eaither a problem with the ribbon or the connector. if it was a connector could hey have changed it out? or would the entire motherboard have to be replace? i am very nervous about this because i do not believe they fixed it. i know there is probly a connector issue. i just dont know if they could have repaired the connector, i dont like the way they said they secured it???? does anyone know if it is the connector if the entire motherboard would have to be replaced? thanks in advanced...

Actually it's nowhere near "no way". The ribbon cable is bent 180 degrees, which can create a spring force that continuously tries to "pull out" the cable out of connector. Usually connector clip safely secures the cable - however, if for some reason it was not clipped correctly, it can slip out eventually - even if sitting on the desk.
So as long as they have clipped it correctly this time, it is nothing for you to worry about.
