How's the temps? [I'm already hitting 63c at idle and 81c with no OC... and a few more with Crysis on the 177.41 drivers]
How's the performance?
how do you install? [I know they are separate drivers. Do you need the 177.79 or just any in the 177 series? Do you need to install cuda as well? do you need to reinstall the physx drivers every time you upgrade the nvidia graphics drivers?
Thanks in advance.

The 8600m gt's in the x205 do not support physX yet. PhysX is only for gpu's using a g92 core and up as of now. Also you should know that it will only work for games using the Unreal3 engine, it will do nothing for crysis.

I do believe it does work on the 8600M GT, according to this forum anyway.

I'm just worried about the heat. -
actually, with the new release, works fine.
I'm using 177.79 and the new release.
PhysX demos work. Heat no different that I've seen.
There are 3 ways to configure the PhysX.
Single GPU
Dual GPU in SLI
Dual GPU, not SLI, Physx running on 2nd GPU
I'm using #2, but some say 3 is better.
About the Unreal comment. That is NOT the only game engine that uses it, but IS the most common one. I have some other games that use it but not based on the Unreal engine. -
Oh yeah, x205-sli3/Vista x32

I've installed the 179.79 drivers then installed this physx driver. They showed up but didn't show the demos. repair installed and the demos showed up. Still no change in in 3dM06 though.
What is going wrong? Do I need to install cuda too or is it there already? Is it XP?Is it something else?
I do think the 177.79 are running cooler though, so that is nice. I'll trade 2c for 40pts.
Edit: I reistalled the 177.79 drivers and reinstalled the PhysX drivers after DLing them from a diferent site. Everything looks right, but I have no increase in the 3DM06 at all. What am I missing here?
Edit 2: I took it out of sli and the physx setting asked which GPU I wanted to use and after choosing the secondary GPU I still saw no increase in the GPU test 2.
I'm stuck and stumped [and probably doing something wrong]. -
I had to use the new 3DMark Vantage test to see it.
Do your demos work? Just curious. -

Those 5 Dark Physics demos, yes I do. I don't have vantage as I'm on XP and so am stuck in DX 9.
err... that must be it I guess. I'm not seeing it cause I don't have what I need to look at it. -
If you can run the demos, it's working.
some of the folks who've tested say using the 2nd card as PhysX is the best option. -

EDIT: The Demos run even if you disengage PhysX.
Also, for everyone's convienence, here are two links with a list of games that support PhysX, just in case one isn't complete.

Yeah, the demos will run because you still have PhysX capability, it just offloads the processing to the CPU.
So, your processor CAN take a hit if the drivers ARE installed. Like I mentioned on laptopvideo2go.com, it may be merely psychological as I don't have alot of hard evidence.... But sometimes, that's enough! hahahaha
Before the board was enabled, even with the drivers installed, it wouldn't switch to CPU based PhysX.
Me, I'm keeping it in SLI mode as I only have 1 game that uses physx and even then, it doesn't do alot with it.
Mine is an online game, and the one thing I noticed right away is a bit less lag in busy areas. -
Hey guys I have the sli1 and I just downloaded 177.79 and physx 8.17.8 I guess or the latest version. I updated the vid drivers to 177.79 but had to pick 8600 gt (not the mobile version) and now my card shows up as 8600 gt with the m missing. I ran cod4 and bioshock and also did a test run on 3dmark06 basic. It ran fine but I lost about 100 pts in 3dm6 as opposed to 175.19 which gives me 7555. So I didn't see any increase in performance in Cod4 and I only briefly played Bioshock but maybe I noticed a hint of improvement before I uninstalled physx and went back to 175.19 just for the high score in 3dmark06. My question is if I wanted to go back what vid card do I pick when installing 177.79? Did I choose the right one (8600 GT)? If not which one do I choose? and I don't get an option of how I want physx to function it just defaults to "geforce enable", nothing about choosing if I want one gpu as the physics processor, how do I do that? thanks

Did you use the modded inf? There shouldn't be any "picking" of the GPU.
I lost 25-45pts of of my score from my previous drivers as well; now I get 7445-7655 so you are where I am. If you don't like the loss, as if you really can tell visually, then OC your shader 50mhz. On a side note, I find that the shader is the only clock I OC anymore if I do it at all. -

1-Unzip the driver file.
2-Drag and Drop the modded inf into the driver file.
3-Choose to replace the original with the one you dropped in.
When installing the driver after removing the old one, go into the file and run the setup application near the end of the list.
EDIT: " Finally, I can't just run setup to install" Why not? Have you tried? I've never had to do it any other way. -
thanks greatsquare, got it to work although I did a lot of testing and found it messes up performance with Call of Duty Multiplayer and doesn't enhance Bioshock at all. Right now in my opinion for the sli1 175.19 is THE best drivers I ran it again and got 7575 on 3dmark and gives me nice high consistent fps in my games. I also tried 175.90 from toshiba for the x305 using the have disk method and also the new 176.05 drivers from toshiba for the sli1 and they both gave me 7300+ the same as 177.79 with physx. And yes I can tell a difference cause I'm so obsessed with fps and the physx changing the registry really messed up performance on Call of Duty 4, but yeah thank you for helping. Oh I forgot how to change a .doc file to .inf. Please tell me the steps.
