I am a Canadian who lives in the GTA, and am desperately in need of acquiring a new notebook after returning my Inspiron 1720. I am interested in the X200/205, and would like to know the quickest and easiest way to acquire one or the other in person (NOT online!). Help would be much appreciated!

I don't mean to be offensive, but this was posted ours ago. Could someone please help me out?

best buy or future shop...excpet the candian model sucks....go to the states and just "smuggle it" over the border, you save a few hundred bucks and get and hd dvd drive which the 2500 canadian model does not have. the us model is 1999.

Thanks a lot... finally a response!
What makes the Canadian model "suck"? -

well the model in the states and canada are the EXACT same. except the canadian model does NOT have an HD dvd drive. it is $2500. the US model is $1999 which works to about 2300 with their tax and canadien exchange..so for two hundred less you get an hd dvd drive....better deal i think.

The Canadian X200 only has one model, unlike the US. It's limited to the 1440x900 screen, a single, slower 4200 RPM 250GB hard drive, the T7100 processor (not that bad) and the lack of an HD DVD drive. On the plus side, it does come with the faster varient of the 8700m GT that has 512MB of memory on the card itself. It also comes with Windows Vista Ultimate.
The low end American version only sports a 256MB card, but it has two 120GB 5400 RPM hard drives and an HD DVD drive. It has the same screen, memory and processor, however. The American low end only has Windows Vista Home Premium.
Mind you, unless you've got HD DVDs, that may or may not be of interest to you, but those are the primary differences.
Please Help! Where can a Canadian acquire a Satellite X200/205?
