Please help a nooby using X205-Sli1...

Hey guys, I'm not a computer pro but I needed quickbooks pro 2008 for a business I just started and it suggested I had a minimum of a 2.0 ghz processor. I was going to order a custom tecra laptop from toshiba but they were 3 weeks out and I needed something in a hurry so I bought a x205-sli1 from bestbuy. i had to have a lap top because I need to be able to bring the computer back and forth daily.

ANYWAYS I'm having a few issues. first of all I cant scroll with the mouse pad by dragging my finger along the right side vertically. IDK why but it just doesnt work.

2nd is there is a volume level meter sign on the mousepad but that does not work in anyway i can understand. there is also a mail button and 5 other buttons that are "on" the mouse pad. Can anyone tell me how to use these?

3rd is i have windows vista and i'm really not impressed with it. is there any easy way to switch over to XP without having to pay undreds of dollars to get the program?

4th and lastly for now, how do I access the camera?



i didnt get a user manual with my computer or I would have referred to that. I'm sorry for my lack of intelligence when it comes to computers and i appreciate any help given.

On toshibadirect.com you can find the guide with the instructions, just go to downloads to see if they add the user's guide. Thats everything I can say now. Good luck...

 

And by the way why the big boy unless the you game I think mobility is not one of the biggest features of this notebook. Just wonder it looks like you bought this with rush. I understand the you need it fast but maybe you skip better options.

 

i did buy it in a rush. I needed a 2,0 ghz processor and didnt have time to wait for a cheaper computer with an upgraded processor to be built. I agree its kinda heavy and not too mobile but the wide screen is nice and the computer overall will do the job.

I found out that the geek squad over at best buy uninstalled my synpatics mouse driver accidentally, thats why i was having problems with my mouse not working correctly.

Vista is just garbage so i have to deal with that.

I have the manual online now so i'll figure out how to use the camera and finger print reader

Do you try download the driver from the toshiba site 1st. Maybe it will fix the problem.

 

I just bought a X205-SLI1 nov 9th, I agree Vista is a pain! I was having stability problems so I checked the harddrive and it was 54% fragmented out of the box I defraged it and it runs much better! My camera has a pop-up window at startup a small white box to the left upper screen which hides after a few seconds but place your curser at that edge of screen and it will reappear. The finger printer is a program called protector suite QL which can be seen in your licon menue at lower right screen next to the clock it will launch set-up I had lots on problems getting to read a print. By the way your rig is a smoking gaming machine I ran 3DMark03 and it scored 20692 with harddrive C 54% fraged! I ran Wprime to test CPU and test 1 completed in 40.96 sec. test 2 in 1299.765 sec. It still has all the bloatware installed. I have been playing biohazard and it is playing very very well with directx 10 playing.
