I cannot burn a DVD. This happened about 2 weeks ago. I can still burn a CD. When I tried burning a DVD, it will do the job for a while and then stop. It says 'unspecified recorder error'. My machine is M45-S331. I still have the warranty with BestBuy. If I can fix the problem myself I'll do it. I don't want to leave my machine at BestBuy for a week. Please help. :(

I also have a similar machine but mine stopped burning CDs for no apparent reason. It's still burning DVDs and reading CDs and DVDs without any problems. There might be a problem with the drives Toshiba uses.
I would suggest to leave your notebook at bestbuy to get it fixed.

The matSHITa drives are truely crap. I have had them DOA, as well as die during the first few days, and just be finicky altogether. Toshiba does put in Pioneer drives as well so it's a crap shoot what you get. But if you do get the matshita, imho it's just a matter of time before you will utilize warranty for it. hopefully they learn and start using only the pioneer. i wish there was a way to tell what drives were in there by serial number or something.
