I would like to find out what is the difference between the two chipset ?

My X205 has th GM965 and the European version X200 has the PM965 is it true ?
I read somewhere that PM965 will able to take the new cpu which is coming out early jan T8xxx T9xxx series can anyone confirm that ? because i was about to upgrade my cpu to T7700 from T7100 but i rather wait few weeks till the new cpu comes out.

    Thanks

Man are you sure your x205 came with the Gm965?? Where are you getting that info from? Because according to the intel's website, the main difference between the PM vs GM is that the Gm comes with integrated graphics (Mobile Intel GMA X3100)... I also got an x205 and everest says i have the Pm965 chipset... I'm sure you have that chipset too ;) , unless your x205 came with the x3100 :p which i think it's kinda impossible :D

About the compatibility with the new penryn platform, i dont think so... According to this website it won't work:

Here's the link to the intel's site:

    Detected Chipset:
    Intel(R) GM965 Express Chipset

    Chipset Components

Hey I have the same issue with my Asus F3sv which is supposed to come with a PM965. Really there is no difference between the two except that the GM has the integrated graphics controller while the PM allows more flexibility for the vendor from what I have read so far. I am still trying to figure it out but it seems like that is the only difference. Both are capable of accepting penryn processors and all.
