Just bought Portege M500.
Should be 120GB total.
But only shows
C:100GB
D:9.99GB
total 109.99GB.
Is the missing 10GB for recovery portion again?
No way I can free up that 10GB for use as well?
Thanks

Nope. The recovery partition would be about 2 GB. The rest of the space simply does not exist. It's a result of differences in methods of calculating the capacity.

HDD manufacturers assume that giga = 1 billion.
Computers assume that a kilo = 1024, mega = 1024 x 1024 and giga = 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 1,073,741,824.
So take 120 x 1000,000,000 (the nominal HDD size) and divide by 1,073,741,824 and you get 111.76GB.
