    Hello !

I've just ordered a Portege R830 without the SSD option and I want to replace the 320 GB HDD with an SSD.

I would do the replacement on my own but I've spotted several size of SSD (2.5" and 3.5")

I would assume that the 2.5" is the right format but is there another limit? i.e. do we have to look upon another characteristic in order to be sure of the compatibility?

I plan to order the Crucial 128 GB C300, would it fit?

    Thanks

I just intalled in my r835 p56x one OCZ agility 3. I am really impressed by the performance till now. The boot time from power button is 16 sec. it is really fast. I have another sony vaio Z114 with 3 SSD in raid 1 and compared with toshiba is working quite the same.
If you are planning to buy an SSD for toshiba I will recomand the new Agility 3 from OCZ. It one of the fastest SSD from market right now! Windows recognise instantly the SSD and activate automaticaly TRIM support.

I think any SSD that's 2.5 should work. The c300 would be great for it. I just installed the Intel 510 in mine and it's flying. :) Was impressed with this video:

Now to look for a HD caddy so I can have two hdds in the portege.
