    My problem is: Everything was fine for the first week, and then one day I powered up the laptop, the fan run at full speed ALL THE TIME. The fan noise is very annoying.

    Because returning the laptop for repair is not a good option for me (I'm not in the US right now), I have tried many things:

    - Reset the laptop to the factory setting
    - Downgrade bios version from 1.8 to 1.5. I did this because everything was fine before I updated the bios version that Toshiba Service Station suggested me to do so.

    I still have the problem with the fan at 90% speed and unbearable noise to me. According to my Toshiba PC Heath monitor: CPU temperature: 0%, Internal system Temperature: 39%, FAN Speed: 90%.

    I have search the internet a lot. It seems there are many people have the same problem, and Toshiba reaction for this is quite disappointed. This is my first Toshiba laptop and I can say I will not buy another one nor recommend it to anyone.

    If you know any solution, please let me know. I want to try some Speedfan software to control the fan as someone suggest.

    Check the CPU utilisation in Task Manager. I wonder if some process is fully loading the CPU.

    Also HWiNFO32 will let you monitor the CPU speed and temperature and maybe the fan speed.

    @Timdo-
    Toshiba Provides a Utility to check the FAN and CPU and other hardware on the Notebook - Click Start>All Programs>Toshiba>Utilities>PC Health Monitor -
    This will tell you the Fan Usage - If in deed it is running at 90% at all times a few recommendations -
    Make sure that there is some clearance between the notebook and the surface you have the notebook sitting. - If there is something loose under the notebook - like paper or fabric this can impede the air intake and cause the fan to run faster to keep the CPU cool -
    Make sure there is no Dust Buildup - Use Canned Air to blow out the air/fan areas. Dust buildup can cause heat buildup and poor CPU heat disappation.

    Thanks everyone for your help. I check the Task Manager and no process fully load the CPU, the CPU usage is at 18% and the fan is still at 90% speed. And I get the Fan usage from PC Heath Monitor. HWiNFO32 shows me again that nothing wrong with the CPU, just the cooling system :(.

    I just bought this machine for 2 week and there is no dust buildup.

    Seems hopeless for me. Need to find a way to return it to Toshiba service.
