I just got the new z935 and everything is great so far. However, whereas normally the battery indicator would say 5 hrs remaining on a full charge, today it only says 3:05 hrs remaining at a 96% level. Does this happen from time to time? I dont have anything heavy taxing the battery life (Excel & email). The only other thing is the wireless mouse usb adapter, which isnt even on.

Is it physically the exact same laptop as the Z835 ?

What kind of processors and screens will they have?

The Z930/Z935 is an Ivy Bridge refresh of the Z830/Z835. There were rumors of a 1600x900 screen, but they seem to have failed to materialized, possibly coming later, or more likely, not at all. The screen is supposedly less flexy compared to the Z830/Z835 screen.
To the OP, open task manager and make sure there isn't some heavy background task doing stuff. If there isn't anything, the battery gauge was probably just being inaccurate, it happens sometimes. If you really need to make sure, you can also time how long it takes for you to lose a battery percent and calculate battery life from that. -

seriously where do i buy a z930/z935 from in the uk ?!
really starting to me off now. -

Nice SSD. Considering Toshiba is a major OEM SSD supplier, I wonder when we will see this SSD in other devices though. -
but where do you buy one

The NotebookCheck review refers to a 256GB SSD in the model they tested. Anyone have any idea what brand SSD is in the 128GB model Best Buy is supplying? Trying to decide between this and an 11.6" MacBook Air. If it's a real dog, I'll probably go with the Mac.

The z835 has a Toshiba 128 GB mSATA drive [with SATA II speeds].
As for the z930, it looks like the z930 has a 256 GB SATA III capable drive; which many will find appealing.

As for your question, from the notebookcheck reviews, it looks like the 128 GB mSATA SSD found in the Toshiba z830 series is slightly slower than the 64 GB found in the 11" air:

However, from my personal experience [my sister owns a z835], the drive is still plenty fast. In my opinion, the speeds mainly affect transferring large files. The z830 still wakes from sleep within a fraction of a second, can access programs/files faster than my 7200 rpm drive.
Good luck.Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -
I just ordered an i5 with 256 GB ssd when I read about the space being taken up by several partitions
On my current notebook I have 2 partitions: c for the OS and D for Data
Can I set up the same by doing a full clean install of Win 7 pro?
Would I lose functionality or speed by deleting current partitions ? -

As for setting up those partitions when doing a clean install, I have no idea.
IMO, your best bet would be to create your "Recovery Disks" which would be needed if you want to redo your OS; and it should automatically create both partitions. Just use the Recovery Media and uninstall any "bloatware" you don't want.
A list of 3rd party programs which can be uninstalled can be found from Toshiba; although the model listed is a z835, the 3rd party programs should be the same as the z930/935:

Good luck -
Based on the above image, it looks like the 128GB SSD included with the z930/z935 does indeed run at SATA-III speeds. -
the crystalmark disk benchie is the first thing I did after getting a hold of it
Half conceding that the 128GB is gonna be like the Z830 ssd
but what a pleasant surprise to see it goes similar/close to the 256GB version
btw... hibernate eats up batt life with ~ 10% drop with overnight hibernation ~8hrs.... what a bummer
but now running the ecocharge @80% and it's nice to reserve some battery battery cycle charge:thumbsup:
