Possible Toshiba Notebook Purchase - Suggestions?

I've been doing a lot of shopping and I've looked at so many brands, but so far I've been most impressed with the Toshibas I have looked at. But like everyone, if I buy a notebook I want to be sure i'm getting one that is well made and will last. The models I'm considering are the Portege S100, Satellite M40 and the Tecra A4. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas about any of these models I'd love to hear them.

 

I have a friend that works in a company that repairs Toshiba, IBM, Dell & HP/Compaq notebooks. I asked him what he thought of Toshiba's, and the answer I got wasn't positive. He indicates that the Toshiba's are one of the most repaired brands they service. The least he has seen is for the HP Compaq business notebook line (NX/NC/NW series). I've looked into the HP lines myself and and probably gonna pickup either an NX8220 (15.4") or an NC6230 (14.1") in the next few weeks. You may want to take a look at these models. Price wise, I think they're similar. There should be pictures on this site that Abaxter released recently for these units.

Hey Venombite, if you read this and you do end up buying that HP notebook, let me know how you like it. I'm also now looking at the nc6230 or nc8230. Would like to hear your impressions if you do end up buying one.

I'm gonna be getting some more info regarding extended warranties and some of the features on the NX8220 this week. If I do get it, I'll definitely let you know how I like it. Just as an FYI, there is already a user (acain) in the HP forum that bought the NC8230 and has provided a fairly detailed mini-review on the unit.
