    Hey all,

I am working with a friend who bought a Satellite A135-S4466 from Best Buy. When you plug the AC adapter into a wall outlet (other end is already plugged into computer) it gets a pretty good spark. It is not a 100% of the time and if you plug into a surge device, it never seemd to do it. It does not seem to matter if the computer is on or off.

Unforntunately, she miseed Best Buys 15 day return period for laptops so I took it to a local Toshiba service center but was not able to reproduce the spark so they said there was nothing they could do. I had heard though that this has been an issue with some Toshiba laptops and just wanted to see if there were many others out there that had experienced this.

I also bought an additional third party AC adapter and this adapter also sparked. I checked my wall outlets with an outlet tester and they are all ok. Besides, I doubt I have the luck of finding bad outlets at 5 or 6 different places, home, work, another home, etc.

I figure it is something on the main board causing a power surge and have a plan that will cause a real failure that will obligate Toshiba to take it in for service and repair it.

Though it hasn't seemed to cause any problems, adapters should not spark when you plug them in. I see it as a defect that should be fixed.

    Thanks for any feedback

    Doug

I have an M-55 and mine has always done that, too. I've had mine for almost a year and a half and it still runs just fine. I even bought a different surge protector, but it still does the sparking. I've just learned to live with it.
