Where did you buy it? Was it used? If it was used i suggest you ask the person you bought it from.

When windows starts you see a user screen and it lets you enter a password but the password is blank? Blank as in empty?

If thats the problem then do this:

    1. Click the Start button, type 'netplwiz' and hit enter.

    2. In the GUI window that comes up uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer' box, then click 'Apply'

    3. In the new dialog box that opens type the name of the account you want to auto-logon by default. If the account is not normally passworded then leave the password blank, if the account is passworded then enter the password where indicated. Click OK your way out of both dialogs.

Simply resetting the BIOS sometimes does not work and you will have to open(disassemble) the system up to access the CMOS which will void your warranty. In any event a brand new laptop should not have any BIOS password set. It indicates that someone probably used the system and set the BIOS password. I would suggest contacting Toshiba service in your country and they should be able to help in resetting the BIOS for you or return the laptop to the store you purchased from and get an exchange.

Try just hitting the enter button when it asks for the password. Sometimes that works.
