    Dear All,
I bought my Satellite A60 3 years ago. Its processor is Celeron 2.8GHz. The laptop will get hot and shut down, if it is used for more than half hour. I am planning to upgrade its CPU, could guys give some suggestions, what sort of CPU and socket I should buy, please. Many thanks.

There really arnt any upgrades for that system. That laptop already has overheating issues so putting in a faster CPU would be a death wish..

EDIT: scratch that. I didnt realize you have a Celeron. The upgrade from the celeron is a 2.8, 3 or 3.2GHz 512mb Cache Mobile Pentium 4. I tried looking for one of these to purchase on google but only found one for 300 dollars... Best of luck to you in finding one.

Lastly, the CPU that it uses is rather old and finding a Pentium 4 Mobile these days might be a bit difficult.

Just clean out the cpu fan+heatsink with a can of compressed air (i suggest to pull up the KB while you do this) and be on your way.

If you want to upgrade it, get some more ram. by default the A60 doesnt have enough ram for virtually anything.
