I bought a Toshiba A85-S107 last night at Circuit City (I needed an inexpensive laptop and the rebate was too good to pass up).

I noticed today that the screen has a white line running vertically down the center of the screen from top to bottom, I think it's a pixel wide. I'm not familiar enough with laptops to know whether this is acceptable or a foreshadowing of problems to come (or whether this is typical for a laptop that costs $550 after the rebate).

    Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

This is a problem with the actual LCD. I have seen similar problems where vertical/horizontal lines appear on the screen. A quick replacement of the LCD will resolve the problem, BUT, since this is a brand new system, I'd send the unit back and get a new one.

Thanks for the input, Venombite. I went to Circuit City tonight and exchanged the laptop. They did so very pleasantly and were quite helpful. Yet another reason why I buy from them instead of another major electronics retailer.
