Hi. So I have been out of the gaming scene for a while, but decided I wanted to get back into it. So, I bought a Toshiba X205 sli1 because I was told it should run games well. So I enabled the sli and got drivers 169.09 from laptopvideo2go and tried to install the windows hotfixs.

    So here is my problem:
    1) I don't know if the games (crysis and company of heroes opposing fronts) are actually utilizing the sli. How do I tell if my games are using the sli?

    2) There is hotfix that is supposedly really important that when I tried to install it and vista said it was not applicable to my system, what does this mean? Do I already have it or does it not work. - (hotfix 936710. This hotfix resolves occurrences of low frame rates on some DirectX 10 applications when SLI is enabled. Performance improvements will vary depending on the application and the graphics driver version.

    3) I have read a couple forums and some people keep talking about bars and how they tell you the sli is working and if you don't have bars you don't have sli. Is that true? Where are these bars?

As you can see I am bit clueless about this whole sli thing. It could be working right now and I wouldn't even know it. But if it is working I would think I could push Company of heroes to the max (I could be wrong). Please help me. Thank you. :)

open nvidia control panel, go to 3d setting and enable SLi visual indicators. If the hotfix didn't install you already have it.

Thanks snowsurfer. I have one more problem that has started occuring since I installed 169.09, if I change the graphics setting on my games and then try to play the game crashes to desktop and it says video drivers were damaged but have been recovered. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it still happens. Is this because I am putting my settings to high or is it just instability of the 16x.xx drivers that I have been hearing about? Thanks again.

I don't know about the warning (Did it really say damaged?) but any resolution change will make the screen go black as it resets, Try a lower res. if the game is demanding like Crysis I use 1280x800.

Thanks again snowsurfer. I didn't think resolution could be that taxing on a system. Figured shaders or physics would cause the most strain. But since I have changed the res to 1280x800 I have been crash free. Thanks again.
