I've had my qosmio for around 9 months now, and I have always had lag problems when i play most games. All my drivers are up to date, and i have the newst bios(1.8) though i just got it recently and havent been able to try out all the games, but the games that lag lagged on 1.7. For example when i try to play team fortress 2 i would lag so badly that i could barely move. I have a decent internet connection so i dont think that that is the problem. When i play Diablo 3 I may have a few minutes of non lag, but i always get terrible lag and die before i can react to what happens. I downloaded the newest Nvidia driver and when i started diablo it said my driver is out of date, I dont understand that. In sins of a Solar Empire I can play for a few seconds then it freezes for a second, then plays fine and freezes again. Eve online is the only game that i can pretty much play on all high on at least one client with nearly no lag. Before i reinstalled windows 7 I had problems lagging on league of legends especially when a teamfight happens or something happens with a large effect. But after the reinstall the lag problem mostly went away. I recently got fallout 3 and it lagged on the opening scenes, I had trouble with freezing and crashing as well. I googled the crashing problem and i changed some stuff for it and i think i made it run off of only 2 cores instead of the 4 i have available. Though after i installed bios 1.8 and installed the latest nvidia drivers fallout 3 lagged significantly less than before. My friend has the same computer as i do and is able to run all the games i have trouble running on the lowest graphics on the highest. I have called customer support multiple times but all they told me to do is to reinstall the game, up date my drivers, or reinstall windows 7. Im going to take it to a local repair shop soon to see if they can do anything about it. Im really annoyed that My friends $500 hp pavilion can play games better than my $1900 gaming laptop can.

I only skimmed through your post, but it sounds like your laptop is throttling.
Clean out the vents/fans of any dust by using compressed air in a can [use short bursts].
Also, the BIOS for the Toshiba x775 created Throttling problems with the 1.20 release. The major solution x775 owners use is to downgrade to the 1.10 BIOS. HOWEVER, the 1.10 BIOS is no longer on the Qosmio x775 Model Support Page. 2nd however, in a post on the Toshiba Forums, a person claims to have found the 1.10 BIOS on the Toshiba Website. [if you decide to use it, your doing so at your own risk]
Toshiba Qosmio X775-Q7387 Gamer Issue (CPU Throttl... - Toshiba Forums
If you look at the 1.80 BIOS, the file is labeled sby5v180.exe ACPI Flash BIOS version 1.80 for Qosmio X770/X775 (PSBY5*)
The supposed 1.10 bios above is label sby5v110.exe [so it seems to follow the same naming convention].

I have tried spraying canned air in and dust does come out, but diablo 3 still lags regardless, i was wondering if it could be that something wasnt put together right? or is it just that everyone with this computer has the same problems as i do? If that isnt the problem i'll see what the repair guy has to say about installing the original bios.

Download something like HWmonitor or HWinfo [both are FREE, either one will work; just google the names to find their homepages].
The above programs will give you real-time temperatures of your CPU and GPU. By knowing the operating temperatures when idle and when gaming, could allow us to clue in on what's wrong. -
I launched eve online and speedfan, and speedfan said that all cores are at right around 80C the gpu is 65ish and one of my harddrives is at 58ish while the other is at 48ish. Though this is at max graphics, and ithat is apperantly very resource intensive. I found that some fps games like arma 2, as long as im not playing dayz which is mostly rubberbanding, has very little lag at all. The same with moh airborne. Diablo pushed the temps on the cores to 85ish and the gpu and cpu to 65ish for both.
-
Those temps are all within the safe zone [CPU shutdown temperature for our CPU [2630QM] is 100-105 Celsius; GPU is even higher].
Which nvidia drivers are you using? OR are you using Toshiba supplied drivers?
Also, check out this thread on the European Toshiba Forum, some good info there: Toshiba Support Forums: Qosmio X770-107 GPU Throttling/ ...
If your feeling adventurous, here's a guide on how to re-apply thermal grease to the CPU and GPU [doing so can void the warranty]: http://forum.notebookreview.com/toshiba/651540-x775-x770-disassemble-thermal-repaste.html -
i just now got the Verde 304.79 graphics Driver - BETA from nvidia, hoping that it would fix whatever was happening because it was the latest they had out, but it didnt change anything.
