Im looking into upgrading the current GeForce 8600m GT 256mb card into a better one. Are there any better cards that have worked? Googling it doesnt show results.

Currently I see that 8600m GT 512mb or 9600m GT 512mb that could work but no one in the net I found has installed it on the F40 St4101

First, you have to find whether your graphics card is soldered onto the motherboard or not. And then you have to find out whether it's MXM 2.0, MXM 2.1, etc. You really have to do your research when upgrading GPU's. Have you taken apart your laptop to see if the GPU is removable?

Toshiba used to "allow" swapping out notebook graphic cards, on the 5105 model if I remember it correctly.

Nowadays, only certain brand/models allow the swapping out - Dell, Alienware, Sager, Clevo. And definitively NOT Toshiba.

Technically, you can kind of "upgrade" video on high-end Toshibas, but only by swapping for the video module from same series, just with higher specs. And it will be quite expensive.

Could you kindly point me to these high end Toshibas with swappable graphics cards then? Because I have not seen them anywhere.

Personally disassembled X200, and seen compatible boards on eBay for insane prices ;)
Not personally disassembled, but I know that X300 is very similar.

I would suspect X500 being the same - not 100% sure yet, since they all seem to use same chip for now and no disassembly guide anywhere yet.
