Hey guys, I just bought a Toshiba Qosmio F55 Q502, and its on its way to my place right now (I can't wait)
I haven't found a definite answer online, so I was hoping somebody here could help me out. Does anybody know if the Qosmio F55 Q502 allows for a dual HDD configuration? I know the Q503 does, since it uses 2- 160 gb harddrives, but no mention of the Q502.
Thanks in advance.

Same series, it should definetly allow it.

The interesting thing is on toshiba's website, for the qosmio line, the g50 and x305 have "dual harddrives" written on their information page, but the f55 doesn't.
Thanks for your reply!

No problem
I googled the model, on the Toshiba site with the specs it says that there is no secondary Hard Drive installed... strongly implying that you can slam one in there
Linky Link Linkitty -
then I can put in an SSD eventually and boot off of it or something :]
Thanks again!
[EDIT]
Just got the laptop today. I opened the compartment with the harddrive, and there doesn't seem to be another header for a second harddrive, but there is space for it :/

AW Major BummeR!! I hope you can tweak it

I bought a F55 too, I'm still waiting for it to get here. Is the the black plastic on the laptop like on the pictures in the toshiba website? Also, is the laptop overall sweet?
-
the laptop is pretty sweet, but it's SUPER shiny, meaning you'll have to wipe your fingerprints every small while. also, I noticed in your sig it says you have a p7350 at 2.4 Ghz. Isn't it supposed to be 2.0?
-
I OC'ed it.
-
How did you overclock the processor? I looked in the bios and could not find any settings for it. I looked in the hard drive bay as well in my F55-Q504 and found the same, plenty of room for two HDD's, but only one interface.
And I have one side question (Not trying to thread jack) but does anyone know how to get the bluetooth working on the Q504? I have tried and tried and it's almost to the point where I don't think there is a receiver in here. It's not the Q5041 model either. Im too afraid to take the laptop completely apart and see if it has the bluetooth receiver. Thanks guys. -
I'm interested in how you overclocked it as well, since you I would like to do the same.
Also, how do you do it without having your laptop yet?
about bluetooth, I know mine doesn't have it, but if you go to your device manager, you can check if its there. If it's not on the list and you don't have any device with a yellow exclamation mark on it, its likely you don't have it then. -
Thanks for your help. It really sucks cause Newegg listed it as having bluetooth, as did Toshiba, and it appears that I don't have it. Was really looking forward to using a mouse without having a dongle attached. O Well. Maybe I can call Toshiba and get them to send me one lol.
-
its possible
I think a review on newegg says that even though the stats page has it listed as having bluetooth, the laptop actually does not.
If you don't want a dongle, the closest you can get is to get a logitech mouse with the nano receiver or whatever its called. It'll stick out of your laptop by less than half a centimeter, which is small enough to keep in all the time -
Anyways, How is it possible to install two hard drives? I know my bios shows that it has a Master Secondary available, but I can't find it anywhere on the chasis. It would be nice to have a secondary drive -
is yours the review posted on october 31st?
I see the harddrive thing in the bios too, but no second port :/
I'll take a look at it again, although I'm guessing there isn't a second port
also, I have a quick question about the webcam on your laptop. Mine seems to be really really grainy, and sometimes is just dark. Is yours like that? -
Any luck with your bluetooth? So far I've had no luck even with Toshiba and Newegg both telling me that my laptop has bluetooth :S -
about night mode, how do I turn that on? if its too dark, my webcam would randomly go nearly black, somehow. It only picks up really bright things after that happens. I dunno. -
As far as the night mode goes, when you open the camera utility there is a little wrench on the top right of the application, click advanced settings or something along those lines. There should be a setting called "Night Mode", just check it. -
dang, typical customer service response- playing the blame game :[
I bet if you complain to newegg they'll be a bit more helpful, but there's a limit to how much they can do, being just a reseller. Perhaps they'll give you a bluetooth dongle or something
thanks for the help with the night mode. I appreciate it -
No Problem
I finally called Newegg after Talking to Toshiba for a few days and them down talking me and telling me that I don't know how to install drivers. Newegg told me that it wasn't their fault and that it was Toshiba's fault. I finally told them that I want a refund because I'm not going to do this he said she said crap, and after talking to a supervisor they finally let me. The laptop is great, but I really needed bluetooth, so I couldn't keep it.
The weird thing is after they accepted my refund, they said that Toshiba claims that the laptop doesn't come with bluetooth, that it was a communication error as to why it's listed that it has it. And yet a few days later both websites still show the bluetooth on the laptop spec sheets. -
frostbit3, sorry it had to end that way. It's dumb how they can get away with it without taking responsibility. Good luck finding another laptop! -
I have the 502 model also and so far its been a great little computer.
It's a perfect compromise between my 17" and my 12" lappies and it can still play all the games I'm playing at good settings (Fallout3, WAR, Wow).
I currently have a nub-bluetooth adaptor I picked up from a local computer store plugged into the rear USB / ESata port and I hardly notice its there since I can still use the side USB ports for my mouse and KB or fan
Its too bad about the 2nd HD port though - I was hoping to stuff another drive in there and RAID0 it.
If anyone finds a work around - please don't forget to share the 411 ;-) -
Hi People, I have a F55-Q502, I'm monitoring the gpu temp with games like GOW or Crysis, and it rises up to 104 celsius. I've read in other posts that people solved this problem by changing de Thermal Paste. Someone had experienced this problem?

Do you guys think it would be possible to unsolder a hard drive header from a dead Tosh mainboard and solder it in the second hard drive bay where the header wasn't installed? I have an A215 and in the BIOS it shows the 2nd hard drive is missing, but it has no header for it. I also have a A215 mainboard that lost it's video. I wonder if it would work and the drive would be recognized?
Qosmio F55 Q502 2 harddrives possible?
