Please, put here all what you heard about the qosmio F55 or what you experienced if you have one?
The weight doesn't really matter with me, are there any other problems?
-
has anyone got one yet?
-
There is people that have them because Best Buy has them backordered.
-
I have a Qosmio F55. It's nice.
I say it's a beautiful laptop, minus the weight. But if you don't mind it's a lot of bang for your buck. It has a slow Hard drive, but there's a 2nd Hard drive slot available.
Can't go wrong with 15.4" 1440x900 and Nvidia Geforce 9700M GTS.
Processor (T7350 2.0ghz) is adequate, but I recommend upgrading it.
Picked it up at Bestbuy. First one I got the crtl button was loose, so I brought it back to the store and exchanged for another one. The Harman/kardon speakers are the best I've seen so far for a 15.4" laptop. GPS is okay. -

Thanks -
Thanks for the replies
Anyway i wanted to buy the T9400 (2.53 GHz)
About the harddisk,,,i don't know about the one costs 1399.99 but the other have 2 harddisks with a higher speed (7200 rpm) -
the one that costs 1399.99 has 1 320 GB harddrive at 5400rpm. If only they included a little better CPU at only a little increased price... I would have nothing bad to say! lol
-
ya i think it have one hdd slot -
-
8 lbs, yes i weighed it
-
Are you sure... other people did say that the best buy model IS actually 6.4 pounds.. even Amazon says its 6.4 pounds... so yea.....
-
maybe toshiba knows less about their machines than those 2 retailers -
Have you ever heard of a typo before? yea, even major corporations have typos. But maybe all the people who already purchased it and seen it in person and felt it are all wrong.... I don't know, I've never seen/weighed it myself.
-
Somebody asked what it weighed with the batteries. I said gave a reply based on first hand knowledge so if you don't like to accept answers like mine, then stop wishing it was 6 lbs and you can go ****ing find out yourself. -
um ok don't get so heated up. Jw, how is your battery life on the F55? Does it get really hot?
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=268765&page=6
Go here and check out post 58, yea that guy also said he bought the F55 and it only weights 6.5 pounds.. so I guess the only real way to find out whos right is to go to best buy myself lol. -
I think i know why there are so many weight discrepencies....
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8897651&type=product&id=1212192365350
Its labeled pretty similar to...
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8897599&type=product&id=1212192365280
People might be confusing them as the red one is 9 pounds and the other is 6.4 or so. They are pretty mistakeable considering the matching price/vid card/company. -
Well, regardless I want a definite answer and I cannot go to Best Buy anytime soon since I am in China and China um... doesn't have any Best Buys!
-
支持上面这位 赶紧搞清楚重量 6.4lbs对于15寸本 还是轻薄的
-
8 pounds?! That's as much as some 17 inch" laptops. Gonna have to reconsider this...
What about some benchmarks and fps scores? -
*Edit though I guess regardless I don't think Qore would outright lie, maybe he um... got the 503 version? Or maybe he got another Toshiba thinking it was the F55... or maybe he's right lol... sigh.... -
Is someone writing a full review of the F55 like the ones that appear on the main page of the site?
-
come on guys, how can u complain about the weight that much - go do a little workout and it'll be just fine...
how about someone in possession of this awesome 'book could post some benchmark results?
merci in advance -
oh and almost forgot, since the f55 seems to have 2 hdd slots, could someone please check whether it is possible to arrange them hdd's in a raid-0 array?
officially montevina is featuring raid in notebooks, sooo.... -
well.. regardless of how fit you are, 1.5 pounds WILL be notice AND will tire you out more quickly. The Asus is actually BETTER in many respects AND lighter so if the Qosmio is 8.1 pounds there is no way in hell i'm getting it.
-
well, if 0.6 kg more or less makes you jump with joy - so be it looool
-
yes, it does because otherwise I would have gotten a 17" now wouldn't I?
-
So can anyone confirm the weight? Pictures will be a great help. -
**** the weight dont ****in spoil this thread with ass ****in lame qustions about the ****ing weight - its ****ing 8.1 pounds for ****in hells sake
now please someone reasonable enough post a 3dmark result here? -
A friend of mine has one and he weighed himself with a bathroom scale and then himself with the laptop and battery and he said that the laptop weighs 6.5 - 7pounds. I hope this helps. God Bless -
1. I have a Gateway P-6860FX running an Intel Extreme X9000 processor running @ 3.0GHz:
2. My Friends Toshiba Qosmio F55 stock @ 2.0GHz:
3DMark2006 @ 1280 x 800 = 8956 / 7302
SM2.0: 3847 / 3371
SM3.0: 3737 / 3173
CPU Score: 2750 / 1817
Average FPS:
31.22 / 28.47
32.9 / 27.72
.86 / .58
1.40 / .92
32.26 / 27.02
42.48 / 36.44
Word in Conflict in-game TEST
@ 1440 x 900 graphics settings maxed - 4X AA, 4X AF
Average: 17 / 14
Minimum: 9 / 7
Maximum: 35 / 30
Word in Conflict in-game TEST
@ 1440 x 900 graphics settings maxed - NO AA, NO AF
Average: 22 / 18
Minimum: 12 / 10
Maximum: 45 / 42
*****Look at how much having NO AA and NO AF affect the FPS.
As you can see the 3DMark2006 and WIC Test scores of the F55 is not as high because of the stock 2.0GHz CPU, if you were to upgrade it to something better like a 2.6 or 2.8GHz CPU, it would probably equal or better the P-6860FX. I hope this informal testing helps. God Bless -
I was going to purchase this laptop, and after looking at it at BB several times I am no longer purchasing it. The laptop is not built to last and I want something that is going to last.
-
thx a bunch jdeluna for the post !!!
why r u thinking that its not built to last? material? scratches? -
-
JDELUNA can you by chance have your friend test some games that don't really
90% on the cpu? -
I am assuming that you are asking to have him test some games that do not use 90% of the CPU, is that correct ?? If so what are some games and I can see if either he or I have it to try. Let me know. God Bless -
I think bwhxeon refers to testing out fps and rpg games as they tend to be less CPU intensive such as Crysis, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4 etc. You can download demos for some of the games and test those if you dnt actually have the game.
But thanks a whole lot JDELUNA -
http://files.filefront.com/Devil+May+Cry+4+Demo/;10504274;/fileinfo.html. It has a benchmark tool in the game. -
I will have him download it and ask him to try it out and hopefully will report on something for you all tomorrow.God Bless
-
I know the game will run, but I'm hopeing it can at least run it at 1280x720 with x2 anti aliasing
-
Can someone take a pic of it next to a coke can or something?
-

Someone wrote a review on the F55-Q503:
http://explore.toshiba.com/laptops/qosmio/F50/F55-Q503#
Anyone found it yet??? -
this guy doesn't know anything about laptops at all, maybe he should have done his homework <expletive>.
-
Lesson of the day?
There exists idiots who post reviews of objects they don't own.
Also, Jdeluna neglected to point out the differences between the SM 2.0 and SM3.0 scores for the two machines as well. The CPU scores account for part of the difference between the two machines, but not wholly so. -

. I have seen it on multiple sites, but I think I wouldn't really trust them (thats just me). So, I am waiting for it to be available from a local store. Also if you go on their main site, you will see that it will be out soon (Find a store near you). That right there is giving a big hint

You're paying ~$300 more though for the 9800gt if u go for the sager, a worthy investment but still a much higher price for nearly the same specs besides gfx
