Please, put here all what you heard about the qosmio F55 or what you experienced if you have one?
The weight doesn't really matter with me, are there any other problems?

    I have a Qosmio F55. It's nice.

I say it's a beautiful laptop, minus the weight. But if you don't mind it's a lot of bang for your buck. It has a slow Hard drive, but there's a 2nd Hard drive slot available.

Can't go wrong with 15.4" 1440x900 and Nvidia Geforce 9700M GTS.

Processor (T7350 2.0ghz) is adequate, but I recommend upgrading it.

Picked it up at Bestbuy. First one I got the crtl button was loose, so I brought it back to the store and exchanged for another one. The Harman/kardon speakers are the best I've seen so far for a 15.4" laptop. GPS is okay.

Are you sure that's true? If you saw that from BB then I'm pretty sure they're wrong as the laptop specs from toshiba says nothing about a 2nd hard drive slot

Can you open up the bottom of the laptop to see where the cpu is placed and see if it looks to be easy to replace?

    Thanks

the one that costs 1399.99 has 1 320 GB harddrive at 5400rpm. If only they included a little better CPU at only a little increased price... I would have nothing bad to say! lol

How much does it actually weigh with the battery in? I've heard conflicting reports that it's either 6.5 lbs or 8.1 lbs.

Have you ever heard of a typo before? yea, even major corporations have typos. But maybe all the people who already purchased it and seen it in person and felt it are all wrong.... I don't know, I've never seen/weighed it myself.

Exactly, Best buy and amazon make typos all the time. I've had this machine for almost 2 weeks, I KNOW BB is wrong. I'm not sure where you getting "all the people" who says its 6 lbs, but maybe that ONE person can chime in right now and correct me.

Somebody asked what it weighed with the batteries. I said gave a reply based on first hand knowledge so if you don't like to accept answers like mine, then stop wishing it was 6 lbs and you can go ****ing find out yourself.

What about some benchmarks and fps scores?

Ah, lookie here another guy that supports the fact that the Toshiba weighs in at 6.4 pounds. That makes the score what? 4 to 2? (Amazon, Best Buy, the other guy who bought it and this Chinese guy vs Toshiba website and Qore)

*Edit though I guess regardless I don't think Qore would outright lie, maybe he um... got the 503 version? Or maybe he got another Toshiba thinking it was the F55... or maybe he's right lol... sigh....

well.. regardless of how fit you are, 1.5 pounds WILL be notice AND will tire you out more quickly. The Asus is actually BETTER in many respects AND lighter so if the Qosmio is 8.1 pounds there is no way in hell i'm getting it.

Exactly what I'm thinking. The new gateway pwns this laptop and is reasonably priced BUT it's 17" and 8 pounds.

So can anyone confirm the weight? Pictures will be a great help.

    1. I have a Gateway P-6860FX running an Intel Extreme X9000 processor running @ 3.0GHz:
    2. My Friends Toshiba Qosmio F55 stock @ 2.0GHz:

    3DMark2006 @ 1280 x 800 = 8956 / 7302

    SM2.0: 3847 / 3371
    SM3.0: 3737 / 3173
    CPU Score: 2750 / 1817

    Average FPS:

    31.22 / 28.47
    32.9 / 27.72
    .86 / .58
    1.40 / .92
    32.26 / 27.02
    42.48 / 36.44

    Word in Conflict in-game TEST
    @ 1440 x 900 graphics settings maxed - 4X AA, 4X AF

    Average: 17 / 14
    Minimum: 9 / 7
    Maximum: 35 / 30

    Word in Conflict in-game TEST
    @ 1440 x 900 graphics settings maxed - NO AA, NO AF

    Average: 22 / 18
    Minimum: 12 / 10
    Maximum: 45 / 42

*****Look at how much having NO AA and NO AF affect the FPS.

As you can see the 3DMark2006 and WIC Test scores of the F55 is not as high because of the stock 2.0GHz CPU, if you were to upgrade it to something better like a 2.6 or 2.8GHz CPU, it would probably equal or better the P-6860FX. I hope this informal testing helps. God Bless :)

The plastic was pulling away from the bottom of the screen. It is truly a huge finger print magnet. Scratches are also visable thanks to the casing being black. People weren't kidding when they said that it looks like it has been out for a year at BB. There is nothing like the feel of CHEAP PLASTIC. They put really great specs in it with a good price tag and hope that people will buy it just on that and not take a look at the build quality. The person at bestbuy even said that they wouldn't even buy it. They said if they were getting a laptop they would get the ASUS, which actually looks really nice. So I am looking at the ASUS and Sager which should last me a lot longer than that toshiba.

I am assuming that you are asking to have him test some games that do not use 90% of the CPU, is that correct ?? If so what are some games and I can see if either he or I have it to try. Let me know. God Bless :)

I think bwhxeon refers to testing out fps and rpg games as they tend to be less CPU intensive such as Crysis, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4 etc. You can download demos for some of the games and test those if you dnt actually have the game.

But thanks a whole lot JDELUNA :D

really I just want to know if Devil may cry 4 will run well at 1280x720. Thats really the only game I care about playing if I buy a f55. You can download the demo here
http://files.filefront.com/Devil+May+Cry+4+Demo/;10504274;/fileinfo.html. It has a benchmark tool in the game.

And the 7811FX (unreleased yet) has two reviews on BB's website.

    Lesson of the day?

There exists idiots who post reviews of objects they don't own.

Also, Jdeluna neglected to point out the differences between the SM 2.0 and SM3.0 scores for the two machines as well. The CPU scores account for part of the difference between the two machines, but not wholly so.

I agree because it doesn't take a genius to actually look it up on google and find out to see if it is available. To be exact it is :D . I have seen it on multiple sites, but I think I wouldn't really trust them (that’s just me). So, I am waiting for it to be available from a local store. Also if you go on their main site, you will see that it will be out soon (Find a store near you). That right there is giving a big hint ;) .

You're paying ~$300 more though for the 9800gt if u go for the sager, a worthy investment but still a much higher price for nearly the same specs besides gfx
