Well true I suppose. If your budget really cannot go over roughly $1500 then I suppose this is for you.

And with the Sager, you'll definitely be needing to upgrade ram (2gb high latency ddr3 ram to begin with ... ) and hdd too. But for value, the Sager is indeed undoubtedly better.

I just ordered the F55-Q502 but I'm not sure if it comes with the 32 or 64 bit version of vista home premium. Has anyone got this laptop?

It comes with BOTH 32-bit and 64-bit Vista Premium. I hope this helps answer your question. God Bless :)

so i finally convinced the guy at BB to open up a box in the back so i could see it, i was surprised at how light it is! it feels like nothing, albeit it is a little fat for a 15". looks really nice too, flashy but not near the level of the asus g50.

there is no review of this model i mean the benchmarks and all...
Want to know the 3d mark score, wprime etc.How much is the battery life before i can take the plunge.
And it would be really helpful if some one can post real life gaming benchmarks of crysis, COD4, bioshock etc.

lol how funny seeing people posting Chinese here.

He said that "he supports finding out the actual weight, if it is really 6.4lbs then it is still being light for a 15" laptop".

Anyway I don't care about the weight much because I don't carry my laptop around at all, except when going back to Hong Kong for holiday, once per year.

But it seems that the F55/Q503 model really suit my wish.

But Toshiba laptops don't seem to be popular and I can't find much information on it.

So there is still no actual review on this laptop yet? With detailed look and something like pros&cons?

Also, I don't know anything about Toshiba laptop, is there any common weak point for them? (something like e.g. HP laptop are usually hot)

The problem is that, I'm not sure if it is available here in Australia yet or anytime soon.

I have an x205-SLi1, and one of my friends on the boat has an F55.

Toshiba is infamous for low resolutions(no 1900x1200 for their gaming laptops for some reason), slowish HDs in many models(5400 hitachi/toshiba brand HDs), for the longest time they used less than top of the line GPUs(8600/9600 and 8700/9700), VERY large size(alot of empty space in the case, which is good for cooling but makes these things monstrous huge), massive cases of preinstalled bloatware, and overuse of plastic.

That being said, they're not bad. I do feel that their quality is going down. My buddies F55 may perform better, but he has had numerous problems with the sturdiness of the laptop chassis and power supply. They are quite flimsy at their weak spots. On the other hand, my x205 is tanklike.

I don't like the new chassis, as it seems to purposely incorporate weak spots for the sake of being flashy(and in a very gaudy way). I've sat in internet cafes in Singapore, all over S. Korea, Japan, the Phillipines, and Guam. My friend is often right next to me. People come to me and comment on how it seems I have a very serious gamer rig, how much did it cost, where can I get one, etc... They avoid him like the plague. We're partied up in WoW both running maxed resolution, maxed AA, so it isn't the picture quality. It's the laptop itself. The new chassis looks cheap, feels cheap, and wears out fast.

I was considering the $2k version of the x305, but decided against it when I realized that I'd get that ugly chassis and a smaller resolution than I'd prefer to flex a 9800 GTS. Not to mention I'd have to buy the 2nd hard drive caddy from Toshiba for $50(though the x305 has two bays, they don't include a caddy for the 2nd).

Thanks a lot for you information.

Resolution isn't much of a concern for me as long as it is ~1440x900, because currently I have a 17" Dell with 1440x900 resolution.

But when F55 comes with 2 HDs, are they in RAID? Or just two.hard.disks?

In fact the CPU/RAM/GPU are not that much of a difficulty, but Integrated Subwoofer is important for me because I don't and won't want to buy, carry, and place a pair of external speakers + subwoofer, but the low end bass is very important when I listen to music, leaving me not much choices.

My target was 15" because I felt 17" is a bit large even I don't carry it much.
But after researching for few months I will do 15", 16" or 17" because it is hard to fit all my wishes in a 15".

I am with Dell for 5 years and like them, but they do not announce ANY information just yet, and I am not sure if their new models would have good speakers. Therefore so far I am looking at HP's HDX 16 or Toshiba's Qosmios.
But then again my budget isn't that much lol. Preferable around $1500 USD, therefore I am willing to give up resolution and hard disk, with single GPU of around 9600-9700.

I would suggest the X305-Q701 then. It is a steal at $999
It has enough horsepower to get you through everything. CPU might seem little but it runs fast enough to get the job done. in case you want it to run at both CPUs ( since it's a core duo 2 ), just run MSCONFIG and click on the Boot.ini and check both CPUs to be on the whole time. That's enough power right there =)

Well, Toshiba will ALWAYS(to my best knowledge) include information on the number of disks included and whether they are raid or not(depends on the series and trim level of your laptop)

Speakers... The new x300/x305 series has good speakers, but they don't seem to be as good as the old x200/x205 series(might be due to placement. x205 has the mid and the high speakers near the screen hinges. x305 has two speakers in the palmrest, 2 near the hinges. Sub is bottom firing on both). But they are better than all but the most monstrous of Dells.

If you are not overly concerned about bleeding edge, I believe tigerdirect or someone like that was selling x205-sli5 laptops for around $800. Easy enough to buy a cheap 32gb mtron ssd(3500 series, which is SLC. Blazing fast, no stutters like most MLCs, longer life than MLCs, and only 200 dollars) to replace the boot disk, a fast and large 320gb 7200 to store stuff, and 4GB of memory(probably run about $400). They would include the 1st generation pennryns and SLI 8600m.
