Hi everyone.
I'm thinking about upgrading the Atheros 9xxx Wifi-card in my Qosmio F750 because it only supports one stream and only 2.4GHz band.
Do you think that's possible? Maybe I also have to add at least a 2nd antenna and I have to find a fullsize card with integrated BT...
EDIT: I just figured out that the Satellite P750 seems to have the same mainboard/chassis/wifi-card. Maybe someone has upgrade details on this model?

I hope so, I want to do it as well. I have a mini Intel 9300 1/2 height card which is what I belive we use, half height that is. I'm looking for disasembly guide so I don't miss a screw, or have extra srews left over.

I don't remember Intel 9300 and I'm pretty good at this sort of thing.
If you mean Intel 5300 than don't try to upgrade- it's easily one of the best cards available.
As for the original question- it's possible and very easy. Do you really have only one antenna though? -
Well, I guess we need an Intel 6230. It's a half-size card with 3 connectors and Bluetooth. Together with a "fullsize-extension", it should work. Unfortunenately, the current Wifi-card is somehow "blocked" and can't be removed by simply opening the lower extension bay. I guess I'll have to remove the entire base cover.
And yes, at the moment it looks like there's only one antenna connected. According to the Atheros datasheet, the currently installed card only supports a single antenna (which is located somewhere around the webcam). Maybe it's sufficient to store a 2nd somewhere... But don't know where :-( -
@ downloads, I ment the 6300..but no BT.
@oxident, the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 would be ideal as half of my 5g dual band router is useless. This uses two antennas.
My 6300 is 3mmo so two antennas are stuffed in lower base to avoid pulling screen apart..and killing the two year warranty.
You have the AR9002WB-1NG ? Atheros web site sucks..I see either a single or two attennas depending on which datasheet shows up. If you google pictures it shows up as two antenna half height.I'm still looking for a pull down guide to avoid missing a vital screw plus me big chicken/wuss. -
You are absolutely right: The 6230 would be the best choice. I've already put one in my Tablet and the speed improvement was great (but not quite as good as in a notebook with a 5300/6300 card).
Currently, my Toshiba has a AR9002WB-1NG, right. But as far as I can see, there's really only one antenna connected. Maybe the card supports two antenna's but then only for diversity. Quite sure this one only supports one stream (therefore only 150MBit/s).
For my, the 5GHz option is also the most important one because I'm sharing the 2.4GHz band with approx. 30 other parties! :-( -
Just ordered a 6230 and a half- to full-size adaptor. Now, only two things could interfere with my plans: Either I can't pull out the card or the BIOS prohibits Intel-cards... Let's see!
