I finally picked one of these up and now I can't resist grinning from ear to ear every time I look at the screen. It is a BEAST, but is fairly thin and lightweight considering everything it's packing. Not 17" Powerbook thin, but not bad. Media Center runs slick as grease, and the component video outputs looked gorgeous on a customer's plasma screen I tried it on (ran at 1080i).
I managed to pick it up for $2400, but am able to capitalize on both Toshiba's current 20GB Gigabeat offer as well as the Suunto Spot Watch offer -- all told another $600 bucks worth of product. I'm looking forward to evaluating both of those as well.
I also picked up an Axio Tekno Hardcase backpack. It BARELY contains the Qosmio -- in fact I have some concerns as to the impact protection on the corners with such a large laptop. I may need to pick up an internal sleeve as well. Since I couldn't seem to find a review of it anywhere on this site, expect a full review of the pack soon.
This is my business laptop for a design company, so it has to LOOK slick, and it does that VERY well. Performance is what I need -- unobtrusive. Everything executes pretty fast and works pretty well together. I tried running Half-Life 2 and it ran OK. The graphics looked amazing at 1400x940 (or whatever it is) and the audio was intense, but the load times were a bit long -- longer than I remember when running on my other business laptop, a T40. It must be the much higher resolution I was running on the Qosmio, because the load times were LONG.

hey there Daniel, thanks for your take on the Qosmio, sounds like you are pretty smitten with it so far. That's a pretty expensive laptop so hopefully it all works out. Keep us posted on your thoughts on this laptop, and think about doing a full review if you have the time.

I'll see what I can do in the way of a review. This forum was very helpful to me in coming to an informed decision on my purchase -- it'd be nice to give something back.
I did consciously choose this over several other more powerful (and cheaper) laptops (like the ZD8000 and N6000) for specific reasons that may not apply to the general user, but it still may prove to be a worthwhile review for others. I'll try to get something out within the next week.
The bag, too. Accessories are important.

Just seeping envy here. Daniel, I think that a few of us will be lurking around here awaiting your further appraisal of the Qosmio (I'm looking at the E15, the F15 and the Fujitsu n6010) and how you came to choose it over the competition - apart from its good looks, which I know first-hand are impressive. have you tried working in multiple apps, such as Word/Photoshop/Illustrator?

I will, along with some pretty heavy duty CAD and PCB layout programs. That's one reason why I needed the widescreen display.
I'm also programming home automation routines with this thing as well as trouble-shooting audio/video setups, so the full feature set should be getting a workout. Media Center is becoming a staple in mid level home automation setups. I'll put some thought into it and shoot something out later this week.
