Good afternoon,
After viewing this site over the last year or so, reading reviews and comments about laptops and all sorts of general techie stuff - I've finally decided to register and ask a few questions of my own![]()
The Toshiba Qosmio G30 has just arrived last week in Australia, The specs differ from the G35 (Not sure why or how, but for some reason the Australian version is better), Specs are as follows:
http://203.56.127.51/topic/pdf/DOWNLOADS/BROCHURES/Toshiba_Qosmio_Specification_Brochure_March06.pdf
Now my question before I go and purchase something with such a heafty price tag (The price not being a concern, just that it can do what I require of it), can it do what I need? The following are the main things I will be using it for:
1. Film Editing/Rendering (Adobe Premiere Pro 2, Photoshop, Audition etc)
2. Odd gaming (HL2, BF2, WoW...)
3. Word processing (The usual colleage work, Excel, Word etc)
Reading alot of reviews and comments on the G35, and past Qosmio Laptops - they lack in graphics, speed and overall, when using them for anything except watching DvD's etc.
I am in your hands, lend me your thoughts - I've waited long enough for the right laptop, a few more months for the new AMD or Intel Processors cannot harm![]()

The G35 should be more than capable of handling any of thise tasks. The Core Duo should take care of the film editing pretty quickly. The 7600 is quite fine for the gmaes, although you might need 2GB RAM for BF2 to run at its best. The Qosmios are also famed for having one of the best screens and dual lamp should give you good brightness.
I would say for your uses the Qosmio should do just fine. -
Yes, the Qosmio is the ultimate multimedia machine IMO - best screen/speaker on the entire market as well. Too bad the US model only came with the wimpy 7300 GPU though.

I dare say that I am jealous of your machine, that will work awesome for your needs.
