Hello all,
I've got a G35 AV600 and I was wondering if anyone knows why the build in IR receiver next to the leds is not taking commands from the MCE remote. If I plug in the additional USB IR receiver that controls the Cable box will take commands in MCE![]()

I have a AV650 and everything works fine but I have XP MCE 2005. I don't know how she performs with Vista HP.

So when you don't connect the external USB IR receiver does the remote works in MCE mode ? I did try that on XP ( I have a dual boot) and on the first bootable partition I have XP Home MCE edition there the remote doesn't work either.
If I connect the external receiver it does work - does it make sense what I'm saying here ?
Thanks,

Yes it works, also you have a refurbished one or you bought brand new. Mine was a display unit I get it with a nice deal on ebay a year ago. But I ask you that since I know some people have the same item brand new and some other people have it refurbished and since the 2nd option the retest everything they find issues and fixed something that don't happen when is new. Does the unit still have warranty?...

Skylander!
Thanks for getting back to me. Can you please do me a favor ?
Under your Control Panel/Administrator/Devices can you tell me what's the device name and eventually the properties( right click Properties) of the device that is under Infrared Devices ?
If you have nothing under that please also look under the Human Interface Devices.
Thanks a lot for doing this. I see you are in Iraq, Good luck!!!
My best,

Actually better! Under control panel, there is an icon called Infrared what do you see there ? WHat's the device name under the Hardware tab ?

I have a new (to me) G35 AV650, I don't see any thing in the control panel or device manager about the built in IR, media center works fine with the dongle plugged in.. everything I have read is that the MCE remote only works with the dongle until the AV660, which has the usb dongle built in. Am I missing the built in IR driver, does anyone else see it under device manager? thanks..

Okay but what's the remote sensor next to the power led(the first from the left if you laptop powered)
Also Skylander77 says it works for him... Thanks for getting back. I will have to research some more.
Thanks Tarjas,

I think I may have figured it out, the remote sensor on the front panel works with qosmio player, you do not have to have the dongle plugged in to change channels/volume/etc when using the non windows built in player. The dongle has to be plugged in for windows.

that kindoff sucks - did you ever used you laptop as a Qosmio player, I never did that. Does the provided remote works for it ?
