supposedly the new Qosmio G40 will be out in june.
the G40 brings new design to the table, the old design will be missed, if you looked carefully at the hinge it seems that the Qosmio G40 seems to have Sony VAIO AR style hinge which will not allow the screen to be fully extendable, probably only about 120-140deg by the looks of things. Toshiba seems to be anchored with its less-than-ideal, keyboard layout, and still the does not include the num pad. but i don't really fancy the numpad that much anyway, as i rather have those (new) snazzy navigation joystick looking things (presumably for dvd), and handy volume dial, that this new Qosmio has, i don't think toshiba would be able to fit those things if it decide to fit the numpad in. though to my pleasant surprise they seems to put the windows key between fn and alt key now.

    key spec is as follows:

    -17-inch 1920 x 1200 screen
-dual 200GB hard drives (a total to 400GB!)
-T7300P Core 2 Duo processor (Santa Rosa) (that means 800mhz FSB)
    -2GB of RAM
    -512MB GeForce 8600M GT
-HD DVD-R drive (i read somewhere that it supposed to be multi-layer HD DVD burner)
-4+1 speaker (2 tweeter in the screen bezel, 2 med below the screen, and a subwoofer in the bottom?)
    -HDMI 1.3

    dimension: 436 X 292 X 45 mm 5kg!

i really wish it had LED backlight and 4GB of RAM... we'll see.. if it not then it might worth waiting for another year, till G50(?) comes out. vista sp1 should comes out by then, and the sucessor to santa rosa (forgot its name) should comes out, and the 802.1n should becomes clearer.

here's the link (incl. picture), there seems to be the new sattelite range in one of the site too.

It may have a lot of features, and I do like a lot of what I see, but the thing's heavy as hell and I doubt anyone would want to carry something like that around with them all the time.

The Go 8600 should be about as powerful as the Go 7900 GS. It won't be quite as powerful as the Go 79050 GTX, because that card is very strong and has a bit more brute force that the Go 8600 can't match. The notebook indeed looks very good, and is very feature rich, but its not cheap.
