Qosmio G45-AV680

Hi everyone,
I just ordered this laptop and should have it tomorrow. I'm hoping I picked the right one, but would like some opinions while I have time to return it.

I've had a Toshiba laptop for years and have always been pleased with them, although my current one M65 has had some problems... and is dying a slow death, which is why I couldn't wait any longer to replace it.

I was torn between the Qosmio and the Dell XPS M1710, however it's due for an update, and doesn't support DX10.

The Toshiba has slower ram, and 5200 RPM serial ATA drives... wasn't sure how much that would slow it down either?

I mostly do a lot of graphics, digital photography, Photoshop, and use a high end embroidery software package that is a HOG. I'm not a hardcore gamer (I like to think I've grown up, HA!) but occasionally I give in and play WOW, or EQ2... or LOTRO is really tempting me... LOL

Will this laptop handle the games? I know it will be fine for the other stuff, which is mostly all that matters, until I revert to childhood periodically....

Oh, in the past, I've always formatted my laptops on arrival, and installed a clean copy of the OS, downloading the drivers from Toshiba. This laptop has Vista, and I don't have a stand alone copy of it, nor do I intend to purchase one. So... can I get a clean install with the recovery CD somehow?

 

No, you can't get a clean recovery Vista DVD.

 

Well never mind... Amazon just notified me that instead of arriving today, the laptop is delayed until September 7th! I can't wait as we're in an RV park and won't be here... so I guess I'm back to square one.

 

just go to best buy or officemax or something...that way you can just buy it and you'll be able to look at it first.
