I'm trying to decide between these two. The only differences I see are:

    Q896 has a GTX 460M video card, Q888 has a GTS 360M
Q896 does NOT have "Advanced/Discrete Graphics", the Q888 does.
Q896 does NOT have the "Resolution+" feature and SPDIF output (Q888 does)
Q896 retails for $50 more than the Q888

I'm not exactly sure what Toshiba's "Advanced/Discrete Graphics" feature is.

    Can anyone make any recommendations?

    Q888 is an outdated model.

Q896 has an UPGRADED (upper case intended) GTX 460M card (a lot faster and runs cooler than GTS 360M).

I don't know what the "advanced/descrete graphics are" nor "Resolution+" feature.

I would go for the Q89X series.

I agree with Alex. Look, I want to be frank here: The Q88x models are LAST GENERATION Qosmios, while the Q89x is the newest generation. I honestly see no reason to go for the Q88x models when the newer ones are so close to the same price. Also, I am sure that both lines have Advanced/Discrete Graphics. All that means, as far as I can tell anyway, is that you have a GPU that is "discreet" and seperate from the Mobo. As for Resoution+, I have no idea, but I would assume that it is just some setting that allows you to change the resolution or perhaps "up-scale" low res signals like DVD's? In any event, I would assume that the Q896 will have both of those "features."

the resolution + is just a high definition upscaling feature of the toshiba dvd drive feature. i also believe all the qosmio are equipped with this feature. not sure if the 1080p screen has this feature as its already 1080p, the 720p with the upscaling it will upconvert to 1080p i believe.
