Well gosh, I don't know how to say this! I finally got around to building my dream laptop! Unfortunately, there's a problem which is preventing me from using it. Yes, I've bought two "working" motherboards which both have the same fault.

Let me just say I've tried different ram and without an HDD and to no avail.

The problem is as soon as I turn it on, I get a "CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR". It stays on does not power itself off until I press "f1" to continue. If left in the BIOS for 10 seconds sometimes more or less, It just shuts off. When booting however, it will not get past the windows screen as it just shuts itself off. Even at the splash screen it shuts itself off. The time it stays on fluctuates between 10 and 30 seconds. I once got it going for 10 minutes and it actually loaded windows which was amazing. It really does hurt as I've blown quite a lot of money on this laptop when I was building it, but it won't work! :(

I've even tried without the GPU connected (Not the 9400m) and the same problem persists! I really, really need help getting it going. If someone knows what the problem is, you will have my thanks!

Omitting the checksum error, have you tried another adapter? It's not that likely, but a pretty easy try.
You could try turning it on then disconnecting the power button's cable to the laptop... I've seen them not work completely but...
