Yeah I've noticed that when I first got the X305 because someone pointed it out on this forum, I don't think it's anything at all in fact it's just finding fault and blowing it out of proportion. I use the 10 key alot and most of my gaming is done with wasd. the part of the keyboard that doesn't seem to have support underneath is by the arrow keys located under the right shift
and it's very minor and unnoticable until you actually exert alot of pressure which would be unnatural because I type alot too and it's no problem whatsoever. It's sturdy and I feel that Toshiba made the right choice for gaming with the glossy keys as I compare gaming with the keyboard on the x205 which was a similar keyboard but didn't feel right for gaming like the one on the x305 plus it seems the paint on the keys won't wear out as quickly. So to me, it's a very minor gripe and nitpicking.

Skalde I also installed the 178.13 from laptopvid2go. and you know what now, I lost the ability to game on high performance. I'd play my games using just battery and the framerates in game would drop to 8-12 fps. Also I tried going back and installing the original drivers and the problem would still be there. So the only way I could get back the ability to game on the go and just use battery power was to use system restore. Hopefully you still have a restore point where you can go back before you installed any other video driver and see what I mean. I'll bet if you try and game right now using the 178.13 drivers on just battery your framerate will drop. I tested it on Cod4 multiplayer and it dropped to 8 fps and my power setting was on high performance.

Oh finally the issue of the temp on the gpu is also a non issue now it idles and stablizes at 56 sometimes it would rise and fall but now it seems to operate normal. Another prob I blew out of proportion in the beginning.

So to conclude, what's the best driver to use to step-down the gpu fan?

Anyone have an idea based on previous products how much the price on this will drop over the next few years?

The next laptop I'll get will be a proper gaming one. The HP I have now is just about capable, but I want to go all the way wth the specs next time around. :p

Or maybe by then they'll be better specs? unless this one's set a standard for the next few years...

What are you referring too? Right now I'm using the 176.39 nvidia drivers provided by toshiba. My temps stablize at anywhere from 55-60 depending on room temp and once in awhile on real hot days it starts climbing and falling but it's not a problem like I thought it was gonna be. By the way on, if I didn't mention it the x305 has a whole bunch of updated drivers and new Bios on thier US site, maybe you should give those a try if you haven't. That's where I got the 176.39 drivers.

    Hello all,

I am new to this game, and a bit nervous!

I have just bought an X300-13E as an upgrade to my dated Dell XPS 1710, and i must admit i was impressed until i discovered that the X9100 C2D "Extreme" processor is not overclockable!!! - as advertised on the toshiba website!

I cant help but feel a bit ripped off as i could have gone with a gateway or equivelent for a lot less, just sacrificing the 9800gtx!

also i was dissapointed to find that raid is not supported and it takes an eternity to boot into windows (a common problem i understand!)

I suppose really i am looking for comfort in the fact that a BIOS revision will be with us soon?

Can anyone point me towards the light before i lose patience with this £2000.00 doorstop?

I bought this laptop last week and am impressed with everything except one thing. The GPU temperature! when gaming at standard clocks speeds the GPU will reach up to 95C and a slight overclock will bring it beyond 100C.
So i fear this laptop gpu will not last very long.

What are everyone elses GPU temps running furmark or atitool artifact test?

Running Furmark my friend with a F55 with the same 9700M GTS ran the stress test for 3+ hours straight at a constant 95C degrees. Hope this helps. God Bless :)
