So I finally got around to building an X300! "Yay!" But I'm having problems.. Already.

    Yes it does boot.

No it does not stay on.

That's right. You heard me. It does not stay on. The X300 turns itself off after getting to the splash screen, or Nvidia boot agent! I have even tried it with new RAM, and no HDD's and it still does this. It's random too. Sometimes it stays on for 15 seconds, sometime longer. It does it in the BIOS too! I have tried two different GPU's, and they both get the same problem.

What on earth is going on? What do I do? CPU is a QX9300. It also does this without any GPU installed.

Any help would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: I just put a T9550 into the Qosmio, and it does not power off anymore and loads Windows. I should've mentioned that I did buy a new motherboard for it, and that is the one I am currently using. It is the SLI version with two holes and looks identical to my old board.

Perhaps this is a BIOS compatibility issue? I'll update the BIOS and report back. I also noticed with the QX9300 installed, it does not spin the fans up unlike it does with the T9550. It isn't the latest version of the BIOS either, and is a lower version compared to my old board if I remember correctly.

    Update again!

The QX9300 is behaving as if it's an Engineering Sample CPU. It seems the Qosmio is not detecting any temp sensors installed on it which is extremely odd as it worked flawlessly in the other motherboard until it died. The T9550 however, works flawlessly and reads temps with no random shutdowns. I suspect that the CPU's temp sensors have worn out over time.

Update: Oh, dear! And I thought it was the QX9300! I thought I solved the problem.

It seems even with the T9500 installed, it is still turning itself off after I fully assembled it! This was when I updated the BIOS. It was working perfectly before I assembled everything! I've tried switching the RAM and drives again, but to no avail. So much for a brand 'new' motherboard.

Blind flashed the BIOS back down to 1.30. The same problems still persist, and it is not a power issue.

It does throttle its fans with the QX9300 if left in the CMOS checksum error screen. It does not shut itself off if left at that screen.

If left at the BIOS for too long, it will remain on, but cuts out to a black screen.

If I hold one of the keyboards keys down at the Qosmio boot screen, it hangs at that boot screen and does not power off till I release one of the keys. When I release a key at that screen, it shuts off instantly.

Swapped the RAM and HDD/SSD = Nothing
    Booted without GPU's = Nothing

Anything else such as booting Windows or waiting at the Nvidia boot agent results in a random power off. I've also confirmed that it is not the power ribbon either.

All these problems persist with the T9550 also.
